Gone to Hull?
Seems the deal is agreed - loan to season end after signing a new contract at Villa.
Have we been looking at him? Surely if we were he would choose us over Villa? Or maybe we can’t offer enough game time?

Maybe 3 seasons ago he was good.
------------
well there you go then, we're talking about 3 seasons ago aren't we?
He was bought specifically for Bielsa's style, needed to have a hell a lot of the ball... when did he ever lose the ball back then?
again, to be clear... back then, you wanted to sell a 20 year old keeper, French international, suited our style perfectly, that we'd bought for only 5 million, to disrupt the dressing room after a 12th place finish in the first season, no real 2nd choice at that time, the problem of finding a replacement that suited that style.
to be clear you'd have sold him for 15 million at that point? - yes or no, not that difficult a question mate?

yeah to be fair that was a bit LIW esque
thing is if somebody could be bothered and go back and show me a thread where bats wants rid of our 20 year old French international keeper, in great form, signed by the manager who's style was appreciated and widely recognised that Melsier was bought for this style, glowing future, in a newly formed Leeds United, distinct style, premier league heights, beating City away in thrilling games.. happy club, fans, dressing room I'll happily hold my hands and say well done pal, you called it perfectly.... I'll even give extra points if he also gave a suggestion of which keeper we bring in... unless Kiko guna take number 1 spot again of course..

BTW, I don't take offence with anything said on here.
I'm not saying I'm right. Or anyone else is wrong.
But Meslier is over hyped.

Spanish never liked him.
Looks like a Preying Mantice with boots on.
Too fragile, gangly. Not athletic enough.
Not brave enough.
BTW, he was an U21 along with other keepers.
Has he made the step up to full French international.
No he hasn't. One in a long line of young players
who, to some, look like world beaters. But aren't.

Come on Batty... answer Spanish's question.... did you say, 3 years ago, that "Meslier looks like a preying mantice with boots on, too fragile, gangly, not athletic enough, not brave enough' and so, for all those reasons, we should sell right now cos he's never gonna make it" ?? 🤔
Did you say, when we signed top scorer Piroe "he's a carp signing cos he's always anonymous and all he does is score the odd goal?" 🤔
Did you say when we bought Raphina... "who's this £4m unknown we've bought? Will be carp! Why didn't we sign Harry Kane instead" 🤔
Spanish has a point here about the rubbish posted on here using hindsight,..... it's worthless poijnts scoring, and I'm just picking on you here Batty. Many others do it.
Personally, I think there are points to be made, but I don't think they're the points you're making.
My questions would be....
Meslier WAS pretty decent, for such a young and inexperienced goalkeeper. What did the club do/not do which changed him and/or the positive trajectory he was on? The guy didn't purposely try to not improve. You don't think he knows ? You gotta look at why the club haven't helped him.
Then you look at Firpo and the weaknesses he had, and the negatives he got, then think...he improved! You don't just improve on your own. Someone somehow managed to do that for him. Can't understand why the same hasn't happened for Meslier. It's such a shame and I feel FOR the guy, not angry at him, like many seem to be

Salonika, 3 years ago I didn't like the look of Meslier
physically. I've called him the 'Giant headed Frenchman'
for as long as I can remember. Because that giant head
is giant. And looks more so due to his gangly skinny
frame. None of that's changed. And I've referred to him
as a preying mantic in match day threads.
There only reason I gave him any leeway was because
he wasn't Kiko the racist. Nigel Farage would've been
a welcome option to that bloke. Meslier just doesn't
look the part for me. In the same way Bamford doesn't.
Re Bamford, I was always a fan of Mitrovic. I liked
Ollie Watkins. Both Bamford's counterparts. I bring
the violinist up because both him and Meslier were
rammed down our throats as top shelf options at
both positions bar none. They weren't. Some thought
they were and battered posters like me for saying
the opposite. Honestly, I couldn't give sh 1 t.
Both are poor.
Meslier's played 13 times for the French U21s. Bamford's played 65 minutes in a friendly against
Andorra's pub team. Says it all.
On Piroe, I knew he was good. And he's been good
for us. While not really fitting Farke's system. Not sure
what else you want me to say? I like him. Glad he
plays for us.
On Raph, he came in as a relative unknown. But,
we all realized fast that he was exceptional. Look at
him now. He's one of the best in the world. Did him
pushing for the Barcelona or nothing move irk me?
Yes. Yes it did. Doesn't alter the fact he's brilliant.
Firpo. Nice bloke. Can't defend at Prem level. But,
he's been great for us last season and a half in Champo.
However, I think he'll be off back to Spain. Good luck
to him and his family.
What else can I fill you in on? Well, I love Pabs. Miss
him dearly. Exceptional for us. I miss Klich. A ton. He
was wronged. I miss and also love Alioski. Berardi.
Coops. Dallas. Loved having Bill here. But for all of
them, things come to an end.
Love Kalvin. Wish he was still here. Wish we'd kept
Schmeichel. And found a way to get Ben White.
I could go on. But, the crux of it is, Bamford's sh 1t.
And Meslier looks like a preying mantice with boots on.

Bats… still not answering it tho, alright writing an essay to try and get round it.. just a yes or no would have done..
You’re suggesting we should have sold meslier for 15 million 3 years ago, because he was at his peak.
Who knew he was at his peak? - and am saying that’s a ridiculous thing to do anyway,
Also would have been uproar selling our best players 3 years ago, we needed to buy, not sell…
20 year old international goalkeepers could go on to be absolute legends.
We sell him for 15 million, turns out to be next best thing, who knows?
You can’t use hindsight looking back 😂
I really don’t know why you’re deliberately avoiding this.

Bats I actually agree ref the hindsight call of Bamford.. a gun to our heads I think we knew deep down PB was elevated somewhat by Bielsa. Had a great season, but was 30 odd back then, only really had one decent season at top level in his whole career really etc… yeah looking back fair play! With the wages etc
Meslier, no way tho.. was 20 for a start, great form, all his career ahead of him. Nobody in their mind would want rid of him beck then

Let’s all have a little think of all the players over the years we’ve HAD to sell at there peak.. because we couldn’t keep hold them, due to being a lower league team. From Milner, back in the day, delph, literally hundreds of players we were all really rattled about selling.
So then 3 years ago, Bielsa totally turned it around, first time 20 years no players are forced to be sold because we’re premier league.
Never in a million years would you think ‘oh let’s now get rid of this 20 year old international goalkeeper, in great form.. no way! Zero
