Andoni Iraola - Top Target

Tottenham Hotspur made Andoni Iraola their top target should they part company with Ange Postecoglou.

Iraola has transformed Bournemouth, but would a philosophy centred on out-of-possession principles transition to a bigger, wealthier and more historic club?

Then he gets the boot I would hope, after enough time obviously. Hard to see how we'd be any worse though.

Poch hasn’t exactly set the world on fire since leaving you. Be careful what you wish for. Who knows?

He won't be back. Levy had the chance to bring him before Ange. That ship has sailed.

He hasn’t done as bad as people make out either, won trophies at PSG, was starting to get a tune out of this Chelsea side - they’ve looked no better under Maresca and it’s too soon to say with the US job.

Iraola would be the better appointment though I think

I'm under no illusions that it would be all fine and dandy should he return. I would hope he'd be able to reach the levels he did before and more (with the money being splashed about by us these days) but things are different. For one thing we don't have as good a team as we did when he was in his pomp, although lots of potential. For another thing, he's been around the block a bit more.

As for his lack of success after Spurs, well some managers are better fits for clubs than others. Poch is a bit more of a project type manager so PSG and Chelsea didn't really feel like the best fits from the start. PSG are already established as the best team in their league and Chelsea don't give managers time so promptly sacked him when it looked as though he had turned a corner.

Fair enough, and yes I thought it was a daft decision to fire him at chelsea, things were looking better and would have been worth giving him longer.

So what you are saying is Poch is not an elite manager but an average project building one. Good to know.

Only if you want to completely twist what I said for your own benefit. I've not called him elite and I've not called him average either. All I know is he was way better at Spurs than Ange is, who you think is elite....or is that completely twisting what you've said as well?

Poch was fired from PSG, because they failed to win the Champions League… With regard to Chelsea… everyone gets fired from there, within 2 years!

He was treated poorly at Spurs… given no money to spend, in 3 transfer windows… plus he was given the worst defence in history… Trippier, Sanchez, Dier & Davies…

He’s got to be considered still…

Iraola or Thomas Frank are most likely..

Ange has got to go… 15 league defeats are unacceptable!
