You get a trophy at the end of the plays offs, for winning, you could have finished as low as seventh in the league, I don’t really see why, but it happens.
I guess some people just like to play devils advocate, and some arguments aren’t winnable.
I stand by my original statement, if you win the Europa League, it should give you automatic entry into that competition, not the Champion League, absolute comical rule, but a rule it is, and there is no more to be said.

West Ham flirted with relegation for the entire season when they won the Goat Herders yet I don't remember any outcry about them qualifying for the following years Europa.

Incentives massively improve competition, we qualified for the Europa year after year in the days when it didn't have a CL place for the winner and believe me it feels far more important now than it did then.

I'm finding it hilarious that so many pundits suddenly have a problem with something that everybody was fine with until the prospect of a Spurs v Utd final came along.

That's it in a nutshell......and throw in both teams lower half positions in the league table. It's just sour grapes.

The competition has played second fiddle to the Champions League for ages with far lower financial rewards for competing but UEFA's decision to award the winners a Champions League place has given it a turbo charged boost. The revamp of the European competitions this season has been great and has generally had a positive response from fans.

It wasnt that long ago, 22/23, that Sevilla were eliminated from the UCL, dropped into the Europa, ended up winning the Europa and coming 12th in their league.

Wenger clearly had no issue with a team that dropped out from another comp. winning a trophy that qualified them for the UCL while doing shiiit in their own league back in 2023.

Now he opens his big mouth, because he hates United and Spurs? I hope UEFA don't take his bitter ramblings seriously.

Well given that he wants a 2 yearly world cup also, maybe he should just drift off into the sunset.
