Ryan Tunnicliffe - the next midfield master

Friends, as you are all well aware, I spend an inordinate amount of time in front of the telly watching footy. For this reason, I am uniquely gifted in spotting young talent, especially those at Man U.

For example, I'm sure most of you will remember that I was tipping Tom Cleverley for the very top even before his early loan spell at Leicester. His goalscoring prowess at the youth level marked him out as someone quite special.

I am now informing you that Ryan Tunnicliffe will be the next special player to come through the youth ranks. Yes, people are raving about Pogba, who will undoubtedly become a top class player too. But don't forget Tunnicliffe, an all-action rampaging midfielder who plays like Roy Keane but is built like Rio Ferdinand. He could be a box-to-box midfield general for Man U and England.

As for Larnell Cole and Jesse Lingard, whom Danny Welbeck recently commented as reminding him of Xavi and Iniesta? Just proves that professional footballers speak a lot of rubbish. Both Larnell Cole and Jesse Lingard are too lightweight to ever make it at Man U. I doubt they will even be top class footballers....just like a certain Febian Brandy.

Are you taking this idiot seriously?

you have to respect his commitment to the WUM though, even going as far as watching, or at least researching our reserves.

I'm not keen on continuous articles slating our own players e.g. De Gea, particularly when an individual pretty much only posts on subject like that, and I've even written articles on that very matter, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't debate the pros and cons of certain players within a balanced discussion. It's seeing certain players persecuted when they are trying their best for the club I don't like.

Given all that I'm not defending Manyoo here, but the comment 'You claimed Evans was a calamity defender.' 'Now admit you were wrong'. does make me want to respond as it was pretty much fact that Evans was a calamity defender, if by that people mean he kept making big mistakes through a lack of concentration or whatever that cost the team goals and games over a long period of time.

Now he's certainly had a very good season this year, which is great for him and the club, and I'm pleased about that, but the last 6 months don't mean he wasn't poor for the last few seasons. Even the player admits that, and another season like his last and he would have been sold, no doubt.

By 'I've written articles on that very matter' I meant above that people shouldn't be continuously slating our own players NOT I've written articles slating players

On the Tunnicliffe matter I've heard so much hype about this player, but I'm yet to see why he's rated as such a stand out prospect. He looks decent no doubt at all, but Robson or Keane mark 2 I've not seen.

Pogba is the player in that team that to me was the stand out future star.

Young defenders are prone to mistakes doesn't make them calamity defenders. It's a fact that Evans was a scapegoat.

Could say Jones is a calamity cb based on this season. And Evans did really well in 09/10 season. Was obviously never going to be sold as he's been ahead of Smalling all season.

No you're missing the point. It wasnt just the odd mistake of a young defender over a couple of months of form, it was systematic for years and he's now 24.

That long period of poor performance is no way the same as a few recent mistakes from Jones who's been absolutely great for United this year on the whole considering he's a teenager in his debut season helping the side out in 3 different positions and was probably totally knackered mentally and physically when the odd error started to creep in when he got played in his 3rd position of the season. If anything Jones would be worth more now than we paid him, just ask Chelsea, Arsenal, City and Liverpool if they want him for 20m

As I said even Evans admits to be fair that he was playing badly, and to be fair again he has now played very well for the last 4 months, but that relatively short period of form doesnt mean he will now continue like this for the rest of his career, and it doesn't erase the previous 3 seasons.

'Was obviously never going to be sold as he's been ahead of Smalling all season.'

Even Evans has said he was lucky to still be at the club this year, and most people would accept another season like last year would have meant he was gone. I'm amazed you dont think that's the case.

As for always getting picked ahead of Smalling, you do realise Smalling was playing right back, a position Evans couldn't play, so that doesnt mean Evans is therefore seen as better.

IMO Smalling is definitely a better player than Evans and has more potential as well. If our right back was sorted i.e. no need for Smalling to play there, and Vidic was fit, then our back two would be Rio and Vidic or Vidic and Smalling, it wouldn't have been Evans and Vidic by first choice, but fair play to Evans he's grabbed his chance.

Evans has played ahead of Smalling and Jones at cb all season.

Take from that what you will. In my opinion it's a clear indication that Evans is ahead of the two.

In your 'opinion' that isn't the case. But I have the facts to backup my point.

You say last 3 seasons, but in reality Evans had a very good 09/10 season. People were raving about him then.

In any case his attributes have been clear despite the mistakes. It's only natural to expect lapses of concentration to diminish as a player gains experience.

Also noticed in December you were saying you'd rather see Smalling and Jones at cb than Evans.

The last few games for United that Evans did miss, United conceded 8 goals. 3 against Blackburn and 3 against Newcastle. Coincidence? I think not.

Smalling is miles better than evans.

Smallings just unlucky that he was deemed good enough to play an unfamiliar position otherwise he would probably be first choice cb.
