So true. They flew all over to RSA to lose a game of Cricket then they were told to go back home!

Very good JM

Well what did i tell you.

Congrats to England.

It was all very easy. The batting was made to look easy mainly becos of positive batting & partly becos SL bowlers are just average & SL as a whole (bar Jayawardene) are just average.

What pleased me was all the talk about Patel not being fit enough to cope with a 5 day test in these conditions has been dispelled. He had a decent game with the bat and fielded well in key positions. Taking their 9th wicket was a big help also. He gives England another option is the sub continent.

Swann and Anderson are brilliant together on interview

Also it proves yet again

when Yorkshireman Tim Bresnan plays for England in a Test Match - England always win!

Stuart Broad & Chris Tremlett will find it hard to get back in the team or will he (Bresnan) be dropped straight way when one or both (Broad & Tremlett) are fit again.

Selection dilemmas ahead of the 1st Test Match vs West Indies.

Bell could be dropped (tho i highly doubt it) & Patel will definitely be dropped for Broad or Bopara.

Tremlett is back in his injury prone mode and will have to play a lot of county cricket to prove his fitness. Dropping Bell who averaged 118 in 2011 is laughable at this stage.
It seems clear that Anderson, Broad and Finn are the preferred line up with Bresnan in reserve.

Also vey good of KP to deny Cook a half century.

kp proves why he is the best england batsman yet again. this test match was a kp special, and rightly done. why shud someone else steal the limelight?with this bowling line up, i would bet england to give a really good fight to india

Congrats to England for retaining no 1.They truly deserve to be ranked no 1 in the world. They are not bad at subcontinent , their sole mistake was that they were playing against Ajmal.

Herath and Rehman are decent bowlers that are probably full of confidence and have just had their golden moments in cricket. But I can't see them being a threat for the years to come.

Nice little stat from Cricinfo.

Tim Bresnan took only two wickets in the match and scored five runs, but his mere presence, it seems, works wonders for England: this is his 11th Test, and England have won every one of them. The only other player who played ten or more Tests and didn't lose any is Eldine Baptiste: West Indies won each of the ten Tests he played. The overall record for most Tests won at a stretch since debut belongs to Adam Gilchrist - Australia won the first 15 Tests he played

Baptiste's steak lasted 10 matches and 7 years (Damn that 1990 test)

Gilchrist's streak lasted for 15 matches in under 2 years.

Brezzers needs to win the next 5 tests he plays or keep winning until 2017 to break these records.

Also, just to add, it was nice to experience a live match thread.

Tom Maynard needs to replace Bell in the subcontinent.

134 runs in 5 tests at under 15 average is just not good enough at this level.

My team for the 1st test in India:

Strauss

Owais Shah
