Imagine even entertaining the thought of selling N’Golo Kante, feck me the knee jerk impatience of some people is insane.

Did he even have a pre season this year? His season has been so stop-start that I can’t blame him for not having some gathered some form, and even then he’s still been far from our worst player.

He’s probably the most intelligent player we have, he knows how and when to make runs for example Newcastle at the weekend he was one of very few to actually get into a decent position.

I would sooner mould the midfield around Kante than sell him to buy another player who almost certainly won’t have as much of an impact as he can, whilst retaining inferior players.

Give the guy a break he’s been injured about 20 times since April, I’m certain he’ll get back to his normal level sooner than later.

For me Kante was our best player agst Newcastle and until he delioberatly slipped yesterday was having a good game.

Is it his best season? No, but he is still our best midield player and i think he is playing in the right position, he jus needs better attacking quality to find in thefinal third. That will come as the likes of Mount/CHO/Pulisic/Tammy improve or if we sign some quality.

BK of course he'd be fine as a DM. He'd be fine if he played left back.

I'd be kind of intrigued to see us play Kante holding with Barkley and Mount and just try to overwhelm other teams with athleticism, strength and workrate in midfield (a bit like what Liverpool do with their midfield).

That's not a terrible shout. I wouldn't mind seeing that tried out for a game.

I think his ball winning ability is almost unparalleled, which is why he could work as a DM (if we’re talking his role if used in 4-3-3. The best DMs in the world all have that similar skill of high frequency ball winning, I think Kante would be no different to the best DMs in the world as protection for his defence.

He doesn’t have the ability to control games from deep, true, and yes you lose the runs he can make and pressing he does when more advanced. But equally when he’s more advanced, he is limited in those final third positions. I suspect he’d be perfectly fine if he did ever play holding DM, kind of like he’s fine now/under Sarri, just not at his best like in a mid-two.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmm, I think the DM position is more than just about ball winning though, and not all DMs have the same skill set.

Fernandinho is one of the best holding midfielders around, yet hasn't got the same ball winning ability as Casemiro. Fernandinho's defensive numbers look fairly average in comparison, but he actually brings a lot of different things to the table which Casemiro doesn't.

I would argue that the biggest difference for Kante these past two years, is that he is now playing in a team which dominates possession. You can change his role as much as you wan't, but it won't be bringing back the Kante of old.

That is a very astute point

I r confused. I thought everyone was playing to their best potential now that they are no longer restrained to predictable patterns and are given freedom to play beautiful football.

I am scrolling through the absolute absurdity of the people wanting Kante sold. Absolute cobblers the same people who will moan when we don't have any world class players

Utterly utterly stupid and you need your head wobbling.

We have some awful fans

The need for patience is so key this season but bu the end lamps will be hounded out by the fans. Its getting that way and I called it

Lamps needs at the very list 2 transfer windows to be able to correct the mistakes in the squad and bring in new players and properly implement his ideas.

Kante is so key to our midfield and providing that genuine world class aspect of our midfield

Edinson Cavani has scored 20+ goals in each of his last nine full seasons:

🇮🇹 33 goals
🇮🇹 33 goals
🇮🇹 38 goals
🇫🇷 25 goals
🇫🇷 31 goals
🇫🇷 25 goals
🇫🇷 49 goals
🇫🇷 40 goals
🇫🇷 23 goals

Could flop and with our record of old strikers probably will but you never know, worth the risk and really can't be any worse than Bats and Tammy needs a break and Lamps clearly doesn't rate Giroud.

If anything thing we just need it from a dressing room point of view, couple of new faces and a big marquee name, will give the club a bounce if nothing else

Durham on TalkSport taking so much garbage by insinuating that all our problems are because Kante isn't being played as a DM. Not sure what he even means by that and I doubt he does himself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is part of a bigger problem...we are in transition I predicted top 8 - we are over achieving in my view...but I admit I'm disappointed with what I see at times despite the brilliant induction of youngsters
