I am not too worried about United, on paper they've bought plenty of good players in the last decade and for whatever reason they nearly always flop. It's a bit of a graveyard.

But on Chelsea, yeah it's not what we want, but I can't pretend to be surprised.

The model this club is pursuing is youth-potential, that's been true since January 2023 when Eghbali's appointees took over transfer policy.

The problem is the only way that was going to change was if it totally flopped, but finishing 4th was a reasonable success so it only vindicates them to double down on this approach.

Did you listen to a recent Tifo pod where they went through every player signed since Fergie left and asked how many players actually improved at United?

It was like 3 players

Exactly, they'll probably still be a poor side but at least they're linked to a better calibre of players.

We're just continuing to be linked with ex City academy graduates which is a bit shortsighted from our scouts if that's all they can come up with.

I know what you mean, I'm not that surprised either tbh.

I just thought getting CL football would make us go for some more established players rather than the usual kids we're linked with. It's a bit disappointing

Agree with this. I honestly can’t get excited about any of the players we are targeting. Is Gittens better than Sancho? Who knows, but he can’t get into the Dortmund team. Is Delap better than Jackson? Not even that excited about Maignan, who we haven’t managed to sign.

I was excited about Nico Williams and Osimhen - we’re not going for those guys. Let’s go for more mediocre players to help us scrape into the Champions League.
