Beckford is off

That decision will be the fial nail in pearsons coffin in my opinion.

Big call from Nige. I thought we would lose one striekr but I assumed Schlupp would leave on loan.

The argument is that, last season, Beckford wasn't consistent enough and doesn't provide value for money.

But on his day, he can still be deadly. I can see why he's made this decision but he will live or die by it I think.

if he sells beckford then he has lost the plot i will not support him[pearson],he clearly cannot handle big name players so what good he be if he gets us promotion when we will have to have big time players?

And where did this titbit come from?

I've had a look around the usual places but can't find where this is reported, where did you see it Trish (not doubting you, would just like to read about it)? I sincerely hope he's not leaving as I want to see what he can do this coming season.

'if he sells beckford then he has lost the plot i will not support him[pearson],he clearly cannot handle big name players so what good he be if he gets us promotion when we will have to have big time players?'

I think there is a difference between not being able to handle them and simply not liking them.

It doesn't seem Beckford has thrown his toys out the pram or demanded to leave. Remember that Pearson was the one who got Svens 'big name players' (SSL, Beckford, Danns) playing their best football last season.

If it's true then we can kiss goodbye to whatever faint hope we had of challenging for promotion. Love him or loathe him, along with Schmeichel and Nugent Beckford is the only player of 'star quality' that we have in a mediocre squad (though I'm very hopeful for Marshall this season).

He's certainly the only guy we've got capable of hitting 25+ goals in a season - he was the one who had the potential in him to really rack up a huge tally. To get rid of him before we've shipped Waghorn out is plain madness surely?

It was reported by fourth official on twitter, he is 99% accurate. I just hope this is the 1% ha!
But Iv also heard this from one other source from "within".
In my eyes this is a massive mistake, and it will come back to haunt us. If he does sign for Leeds I believe they will become genuine promotion candidates, the manager, the experienced players they have signed and now a goal scorer!
The same source has told me Heskey is a real possibility now too, this fact is backed up by the bookies too now!

Nugent is better so I have no qualms with Beckford going. I'd much prefer we set our team up around Nugent than Beckford and I don't see how they could play in the same team without pushing Nuge out wide.

Big decision from Pearson though as Beckford "could" be an excellent championship player - I hope it pays off bit it is a risk.

The final nail in the coffin is not getting a winger to replace Dyer, or an attacking central midfielder who's specific job it is to create chances and score goals.

This is just adding insult to injury - signing relegated lummoxes and non-league 25 year olds as a replacement for Beckford. It's an insane and unnecessary risk when we've failed to bring in the required quality this summer.

If we replace him with heskey I will kill myself

SwarleyStinson - I think we've already replaced him with Vardy.

SwarleyStinson - I think we've already replaced him with Vardy.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think we probably have and it's an enormous gamble by Pearson. Whilst I don't think it's fair to judge Vardy before he's kicked a ball in this division, if I were SwarleyStinson I'd probably consider loading a few cartridges...

I think we all knew this was a strong possibility because of the wages, and have been debating his 'potential' (as opposed to quality shown) all summer and I don't think anyone wants to go over it all again.

Although I would prefer to keep him, if he did go I wouldn't just decide to stop supporting my manager/team and certainly don't think it is absolutely make or break with regard to our promotion prospects (I would have been much more gutted to lose Nugent, Schmeichel and even Marshall).

So whilst I am not as concerned as some about the affect on our squad, I have to be honest and worry if him going to another Championship club (is this likely with his wages?) will be another Blackpool/Campbell.

Beckford is off

So jermaine beckford has been told he is free to find another club! Now I...

Where has anyone officially said that he is off ? Its twitter rumours once again and NP has said hes playing agains Burton. surly if he was off he wouldnt be playing. Where did you get your information from Trish , was it twitter?

posted on 30/7/12

sorry Trish read above about 4th official , 99 % accurate I dont think so.

posted on 30/7/12

Yes itwasagoal of twitter, but also of a player from within the squad.
Doesn't mean it's 100% true but it's looking more and more likely

posted on 30/7/12

When did Pearson say he would be playing against button? Let's hope he does!

posted on 30/7/12

Pearson stated Beckford will either play with the development squad tomorrow or against Burton on Wednesday.

FourthOfficial is far from 99% accurate, but as I said, I don't think it would surprise any of us too much.

posted on 30/7/12

IMO if he is playing tomorrw, it's a sure sign he is off!

posted on 30/7/12

Possibly, but the indication from Pearson was that his inclusion in the squad tomorrow or Wednesday would be dependent upon how well he had recovered from his illness.

I suppose there is a possibility that, in a similar manner to Bamba, perhaps Beckford has stated he wants to leave. And as a result, the club has explained that prospective clubs are free to approach the player without seeking permission from LCFC on each occassion.

posted on 30/7/12

Surely then he should play on weds as that gives him longer to get better?
I think you are right though about not activiely looking to sell but willing to accept a good offer.
