No way. Ennis, Farah or Hoy will
----------------
They're not young contenders, they're too old (at 26 ).
Hoy or Wiggins for me - Ennis did tremendously well but winning the first Tour de France for Britain as well as an Olympic gold, or double gold to become Britain's most successful Olympian is a better achievement.
Oh, I can post on the Liverpool board. We're free everybody WE'RE FREE. Go bananas.
There's only one King Kenny. JASON KENNY
Will all these athletes get knighthoods?
Sir Greg Rutherford.
I really wish there were a 6th spot as Trotty would have got it ...She is the future of cycling
====================
your list excludes each of our 3 top olympians.
it excludes 5 of our top 6 olympians
it excludes 19 of our top 21 olympians.
Not taking anything away from any of our gold medal winners. They are all fantastic and truly inspirational.
But if Wiggins doesn't win it, it will be an absolute travesty.
3 weeks of cycling, average of about 120 miles per day at altitude. And the first ever Brit to win it.
The comes home and wins Olympic Gold to boot.
Absolute shoe-in, surely.

Jason Kenny will probably become Britains greatest olympian in the future. 3 golds on offer every olympics with 3 golds in his back pocket already at 24.
wiggins is a shoo in for SPOTY. If he doesnt win it they ought to abandon it. he's posisibly the most dererving candidate in a single year ever.
ive realised btw now that the list is for this year's olympics only rather than our best ever, so fair enough.

i think your comment highlights though that "most gold medals" does not equate to "greatest olympian". they give them away like confetti in track cycling.

Best all round athlethe on earth...ha. Take a wise.
Who ever the media want , will win spoty..and that seems to be Ennis

I agree Wiggins should.
One potential contender I've not seen mentioned is Andy Murray. Now I know he's a grumpy sod, but if he wins the US Open I think he should be a contender - first grand slam, Olympic gold and Silver when he was expected to get one bronze, first Brit in the Wimbledon Men's final in over 75 years.
jpb I havnt got a clue what you are talking about ....nothing changes
ennis wouldnt make my top 5.
didnt even have the bottle to enter the hurdles race.
Bobby
SLM, if he's still winning gold in 20 years he can have the crown.
The bookies have paid out on Wiggins. It will be Wiggins.
Resident Red, the Heptahlon is an all-round athletics comp, she won, ergo she is the best all-round athlete on Earth. I don't know what take a wise means either
They should have 2 medal tables.
One with swimming medals in it and one without. The latter would give us a truer reflection of what is going on.
They give you a medal in swimming for swimming backwards ffs.
