Mikel started the attack for the second goal though.

Well summed up.

Mikel used to be a rigid player in a rigid team. Now he's a rigid player in a fluid team. The more we evolve this season, the more he'll become a passanger as it progresses.

Oscar-Romeu is the immediate future.

Saint and TBT maybe you guys should stop responding to the Haterz then they might stop or they might enjoy wallowing in their cesspool of hate. How about dropping Lampard and Luiz too for the dire performances they dish out.

TBK please stop giving them excuses to continue this hatred.

BoomOdman, you speak as if this reaction is of the back of one match.

Mikel has been a great servant down the years. Took a hell of a long time to find his feet, but once he did he was off. But good, bad, or indifferent, he's always played the same basic philosphy game, and that philosphy is jaded to us now.

It may seem blunt, somewhat harsh. Welcome to football i'm afraid.

Hatred for who?
I make my opinions objectively, nothing person, no sentiments, just the way it is!

I am afraid Mikel may not suit the new style of play, if successfully implemented, because of his lack of speed of thought when in possession of the ball.

Oh no, not that far back.

I mean, people were calling him a good, solid player and how he's done well since RDM became our manager.

After this one game, what changed?

-------------

I'll tell you what's about to change...the style of play!
If you watched all pre-season games, you'll notice the emphasis on playing quick passes on the deck...though not yet perfected, but it's a statement of intent, or the blueprint, for what and how Chelsea would play in the future.

Unfortunately, Mikel's speed of thought is like a snail, he has absolutely no idea on what to do with the ball, when he manages to cross the half way line, and that is the sole reason why I think Mikel may not be a part of the squad, when we've perfected on how to play as planned.

I never asked that.

Look @ the bigger picture, then you'll know what I mean, not about what you asked or not!

Dont try to be philosophical, just answer the question.

Same with Torres, loads of articles about him on here up till the city game, scores a goal and it's like he doesn't even play for us on here now

I 'll answer your question, but I try not to be myopic, that's why I gave you the bigger picture, but since you really want to know what has changed, I'll happily tell you.

You made reference to Mikel's performance last season, when we were still very rigid, with no creative players bar mata, which made Mikel's flaws not to be pronounced.

Now, with the influx of attacking and fast players into the team, it is clear for everyone to see, that we are desperately trying to change our style of play.

Mikel has showed in these past games, that he still doesn't have what it takes to fit into an attacking team, hence; why he did very well in a slow team.

Judging a player on pre season

posted on 13/8/12

Past games? You mean the City game right?

I didnt see much of pre season but many Blues on here have said he was impressive.

How about you avoid making such wide judgments from one friendly game. You're just being a fickle idiot tbh.

People on here were crying when we lost to brighton

Maybe you should watch the pre season games, before commenting.

Like I said earlier, he may finally come good, but I still don't think he'll fit in, when and if our new style of play is successfully implemented, and with the competition for places...

So I should watch friendly games which the purpose is to get fit to make judgments on our players?
