I actually place the blame for Carroll leaving firmly at the feet of BR. The fact that he decided before Carroll had even trained with that he didn't want him
----
I agree with this, BR is very driven when it comes to changing the playing style and like you say he made a snap judgement on Carroll. Carroll can be a great player (the match V Man City he had them in toast. I think BR is trying to change things too quickly.
but Broughton decided to plump for another set of money-hungry, incompetent yanks.

Oh dear.

VC, this is what we have to deal with on a daily basis.
Shortlight, who else was there? From what I can remember there was interest from a Chinese fund and a Syrian businessman neither of whom actually put in a proper bid for the club as far as I'm aware. FSG did.
We still had people hoping for DIC who are skint. Someone said the other day he wished they bought us. They're billions in debt. That would have worked out great wouldn't it?!

He has admitted, with hindsight after no other striker came in that he wouldn't have loaned him out, that isn't his fault though.
so was this a mistake by FSG?

What I mean is considering in their judgement that Carrolls signing was worth it, would it not have been wise to select a new manager that would want to play him, given the fact there was very little money to spend?

was bad management.
A good manager would take what they have at their disposal and try to make it work. He didn't give Carroll a chance.
Could Carroll have improved under BR's tutelage? Possibly. Should he have been given a chance to try? Absolutely. What good has coming from loaning him out? Absolutely nothing. We made no money on the deal, we lost a striker that can have an effect and that is BR's fault not FSG's in my opinion.

VID.
What? Are you suggesting FSG are passionate men with a deep love for the rich traditions of the beautiful game?
Personally, I think they're here to milk the Premier League cash-cow and see LFC as very much a side interest to their real passion for The Red Sox
Mr R
Put it this way.
Someone should have a massive kick up the rear end for making the decision to loan out a striker, and then not bother until the last day of the transfer window to try to replace him.
I think BR is trying to change things too quickly.
-----------
I actually think BR changing things quickly is exactly what is needed, but he made a mistake in getting rid of Carroll.
I'm fully behind the idea of a clean slate, letting go of the last 3 years and starting afresh, but where BR has made a mistake is letting Carroll go. Fair enough he's not the best technical player but he's not a bad one either. Surely BR could have taught Carroll where he needs to improve, how to make his movement better, how to get into the right positions, coached him
into fitting in with this new style. Isn't that the sign of a good coach?

Why do they need to be? Moores was passionate about this club and where did that get us.
Shortlight, you need to grow up, this is business not a hobby. Do you think the Glazers, Kroeke, Lewis, Mansour are passionate about football. Not in the slightest.

could not agree more, but who is responsible for this,,,I would say the manager but surely he would only let him leave if he was lead to think he was bringing in a replacement
there's a few things that can make a major difference though. they're used to sports teams being a franchise, where they're a fixed %age of the sport, with a more fixed player pool to draft from. i think the whole transfer situation in football was a bit of a shock to them.
they've also previously stated that the incoming ffp rules were a major aspect in them becoming involved with us, they probably wouldn't have bought us without the prospect of ffp, so it's fair to say they'll push very hard for this to be enforced properly, not just in uefa competitions, but also for them to be applied to the premier league.
another incentive for them is the continually mooted possibility of premier league clubs negotiating their own overseas broadcasting rights, which could have massive potential for our revenue generation.
basically, they saw an opportunity to buy us relatively cheaply, already knowing they could make big improvements in our income from good marketing/sponsorship, with the bonus of ffp levelling the playing field against the oil billionaire sugar-daddy owners, and with the possibility of another massive revenue generator becoming available to them further down the line.

It very likely was, but it shouldn't have been.
A very large number of our fans (I refer to them as being stupid) do not like David Gill.
But David Gill has been a very important bridge to the Glazer's for SAF, by educating them on how things are done.
I think Liverpool have been making the wrong appointments in this particular area.

This remains to be seen.
The only mistake made by LFC is not getting in a replacement for Andy and rodgers charging his mind publicly about wanting him
I think the problem is that we need a Chief Executive. I'm fairly sure we don't have one. Isn't that what David Gill is? This guy should be in charge of the day to day running of the club whilst FSG are in charge of the business side of things. He should be a go between, between the manager and FSG. Just my opinion.

I agree, I don't think Ian Ayre is a string enough MD. you can see why he was appointed, hed done a good job as Commercial Director, and he had experience of what was going on at Liverpool, but they need to bring in a David Gill or David Dein type person to oversee the day to day running of the club.
