I would say it definitely is his best chance to date but won't beat myself up if it ends in defeat. This is back-to-back slam finals he has reached now so would say he is moving onto a new level now and is back to world No.3 (would have liked it to be in different circumstances though). It really depends on what Murray turns up. Too passive and tentative and he will lose I fear. More aggression that he can and does play with and I feel he will win regardless of the opponent he plays.
It will be interesting to see who he's paired with in the final.
Although I think this is his best chance to win a Slam, I can't see him as favourite against Djokovic and Ferrer fights for every point.
Certainly not an easy one to predict.
Djokovic would start as favourite but in all honest the last two matches in big tournaments betwwen him and Murray gives me cause for hope - the Australian Open semi could have went either way and the Olympic Semi-Final Murray won. David Ferrer is a limpet and I wouldn't be any less at ease if it is Ferrer he faces due to his battling spirit. However, I do believe Murray has the edge over him on hard courts.
I would say that whichever of the two finalists wins three sets is the more likely finalist to win
Don't underestimate ferrer, he has first set in bag meaning it starts as a 4 set match that Nole has to win 3 of.
I think ferrer is having a super year by his standards and is a danger to anyone on any surface and isn't mentally afraid of murray.
Really hard to predict what's going to happen but am hoping for a more entertaining second semi as first one really failed to spark into life due to woeful weather....am amazed they managed to get as many first serves in as they did.
Jonty - agreed. Surly Murray will feel that if he does play Ferrer and lose in the final, that his best chance of a Slam has gone.
Federer out before they were set to meet, Nadal injured and Djokovic would obviously have lost the semi-final.
I don't think he's going to get a better opportunity than this one.
No I don't think he'll get a better opportunity but that doesn't mean if he doesn't win this one then rule him out ever winning one. I will only sdo that when he stops reaching slam finals.
skybet still has djokovic as favourite to win the event despite being pretty much a set down. hope on this occasion they're wrong
I don't think it's his best chance. This will be his fifth attempt in a final and despite the fact that he is getting better he will still have to beat Nole Djokovic ( who will surely beat Ferrer?) and that is by no means an easy achievement.
Good luck to Andy I a cross everything I have that he wins this thing.
Murray will be under a lot more pressure vs Ferrer.
Against Novak he wont be favourite and he can just play his tennis with a lesser degree of presusre.
Vs Ferrer people will wrongly suggest he should win and be overwhelming favourite. Thats pressure murray has never needed to deal with it, he is almost always underdog in these late stages of slams.
And Ferrer will have absolutely nothing to lose.
Did the tornado actually arrive yesterday or not?
Ideally i both Ferrer and Novak somehow injure themselves today, run into each other at the net, bang their heads or sg. Then, Murray will have excellent chances indeed
Murray has a great opportunity cause he has an unfair advantage
Murray can beat Novak in my opinion. Novak's retrieval skills and mental edge are without question, but Murray is the better tennis player.
Custard,
if you can spare a minute or two, I'd really love to know why yo think Murray's abetter tennis player.
And please, don't parrot the nonsense British commentators spout. Poor thing are forced to do it for their living.
Murray has better grass court play which shows that he can come to net and can play the attacking game if needed.
Djoker is nadull version 2 who only retrieves from the bashline, like Polby says doing splits and putting the ball back onto the court
nitb, you don't think Andy is the better tennis player at this time?
I do. Did you watch nole yesterday ( admittedly in terrible weather) He was abysmal. Been a while now since he won anything too.

Depends what we mean by the term.
I rate Djokovic- I am not trying to 'wum' here...
Novak has incredible levels of mental resilience, he is the bestmover on the tour now (partly due to Nadal's injuries has to be said)
and I don't think I have ever seen any player completely turn the momentum of points as easily as Novak does..
within one shot he can move himself from the defensive to winning the point.
I also argue Djokovic has a better serve.
He is a great competitor and has won 5 majors- plus is world no 2- so in that regard he is a long way ahead of Murray.
But Murray is a more talented player- by a long way. He may sill be behind the other three in regards to wins-
but his backhand is flawless- Id go as far as saying it is better than Novak's. He has incredible touch, far more imagination, incredible skill on the slice (arguably the best BH slice I have ever seen in the open era). He reads the game better, his forehand is vastly improved and unlike Novak- he is an all court player who can be confident volleying etc.
Look at how Murray dealt with the wind yesterday- and look at how Novak struggled. Murray simply has mroe to his tennis game.
Djokovic is the better competitor and a more succesful player- but less talented imo.
To Veejay I will say a few words to jog his memory:-
2008 US Open Final I wonder who had an unfair advantage then?
Getting in your excuses already are you? Pathetic.

knowledgeable. But he presumes things too much.
I have VeeGay on filter so luckily don't see his negative drivel anymore ( I think he supports French tennis players)
Good luck debating with him mate and be ready to read the LONGEST most boring and repetitive posts that ja606 has ever seen.
french- i cant beleive they winged so much over our success at the olympics.

No one ever said it was Murrays fault, and no one is blaming Murray but you cant deny that he has unfair advantage getting an extra days rest.I would be saying the same thing if Djokovic had an unfair advantage over Murray
Seeing that you started the subject of excuses, what will your excuse be if Murray once again fails to win a major even when the draw opened up for him and mother nature was on his side?
Amongst the heated debate Ferrer is serving for the opening set.
