Totally agree davie, Ally can't threaten the players because of the situation we are in. So he needs to work on the attitudes.

That takes months of gradual improvements not weeks.

As I said before we had a brand new team at the start of the season. Then had to change the team again after the transfer window.

A bit harsh lads.

The Rangers have already punched above their weight a couple of times this season against Falkirk. It's difficult to keep doing it and I thought they deserved credit for pushing QOTS all the way.

Dc, agree and disagree with your analysis. Heres my thoughts for what its worth.

Point 1

Agree. Some of the players look disinterested and do not seem to be putting in the hard yards. Could be for the reasons you suggest.

Point 2

Disagree. McCoist would give his left testy for Rangers and I don't think he thinks for a second about whether they can replace him. Unfortunately for the Gers, I do not think his best is good enough.

Point 3

Of course every team wants to beat Rangers. How many times will some of these players get to play at Ibrox in front of big crowds. The problem for Rangers is that, so far, they have been out enthused and, sometimes, outplayed by these teams. With the money Rangers are spending in comparison, every game should be a walkover.

"muppets" calling for Allys head. Think "muppets" is a bit OTT. In any other side, in a similar situation, most fans would be calling for the managers head.

As for who would replace Ally. I think many ex gers would jump at the chance, could be wrong though.

a) - it is going to be a LONG season....Agreed
b) - the players need to look at themselves as professionals & do professional jobs- this has been sorely lacking....Agreed
c) - the muppets who are calling for the manager's heads need to come up with an alternative or shut the feck up & support the team (or alternatively just feck off elsewhere)....Don't agree.

No doubt I'll get shot down by all the apologists for Ally & the team.....but the results to date are absolutely unacceptable.

We cannot wait until the end of the season before we take any decision regarding the manager.....if things don't improve within the next 4/5 games then a change is required.

Who would take it...?I don't know....frankly it's not up to me to decide about it....but Green had better have an alternative lined up.

This is Ally's chance...if he canny cut it in the 3rd....what chance the SPL.....assuming we ever get there.......and after last night , I am having some doubts about that.

Zachsda,

I know you are not an Ally fan from your previous posts but,

"he looks like one of the men who stare at goats"

Where the feck did you get that from?

Perhaps my education is lacking but that is the first time I have heard that description.

Zach- I went to my first game aged 7 in 1981, and have had a season ticket (same seats) since 85 (season before Souness).

And one main bugbear I have in life is destructive criticism - you say sack McCoist - fine, who is this new guy you want to bring in?

Please do not regurgitate the Davies or McCall nonsense - at very best you MIGHT get an English div 2 guy - maybe.

But anyone who comes in then has to work with a team further dispirited by a manager leaving, still knowing that their positions are safe.

Too many players last night were not interested; Shiels, Sandaza, Cribari - even Wallace looked either injured or just plain knackered.

We actually played or best football after Kyle (the useless lump of wood - at least he is out for a few games) got sent off (correctly IMO), because the likes of McKay got a chance to play.

Now, McCoist can jump up & down until he is red in the face screaming at the players from the touchline if it makes you feel better - won;t do any good - never does with any manager.

The only thing that modern players fear is losing their chance for a move.

Now for the half dozen or so u19s & younger we have, that does not apply - they are here because Rangers have one of the best training facilities in the UK.

For the guys 20 - 28 - THESE are the ones who should be putting more effort in. Clearly they have moved here for a chance to move on, given all the exposure rangers have & will get - they are not going to do that playing so poorly as last night.

The older players, with the exception of Jig, are clearly here for one last retirement payday - with the tiny possibility of an addition move. No problem with that so long as they earn their money.

I would far rather lose with a team of u19s than draw or lose with a team of guys looking to the wallet / next move.

You say he "got his chance" - it is September FFS - he has played 5 league games, a dose of cups and lost once, on penalties to a team 15 place above us.

And as to the feck off comment - yes. I will say it. The boo boys have zero place at Ibrox. You go, you support the team. You don't want to do that - leave your seat empty or give it to someone who WILL support the team.

But get realistic. Last night is the way most games (maybe not the result) will go for at least the next 18 months.

Those who think that we were going to win 3 cups, 3 times in a row to go with 3 successive leagues need to take a look at themselves.

Lower leagues are far more competitive than SPL - you need both skill and the ability to "mix it".

Clearly, we have not adapted to that yet.

For many of the reasons in the OP.

Calderwood - Jeffries - you mean complete duds who are at retirement level?

THAT'S your alternative?

Sheesh - really, seriously. I'd rather make Lee McCulloch manager....

Why would ANYONE of ANY NOTE take the Rangers job before they can sign someone?

They simply won't.

And yes, McCoist bleeds blue, but the fact he is safe is not necessarily a bad thing - this is a long term rebuilding exercise - quick fixes are not the target.

"Next 4/5 games" to save his job - nope.

Target this year is promotion (not necessarily as champions). Anything else is a bonus.

And how we get promotion, I don't care. This season is ONLY about getting out the 3rd div.

"He's had his chance" - oh dear. Really.

Come up with serious alternative, because TBH you don't sound much lie a "supporter" right now, just someone bitching from the touchlines.

Beaten by the hungrier team and best of luck to them but there are a few in our team that need a really good boot up the backside. Still far to early to be judging the management team.

It is a strange description but Zach spends a lot of time observing animals in the countryside, so is well placed to make the comparison.

Admittedly, I don't know what men who stare at goats look like, but somehow the comparison seems very appropriate and accurate when applied to Alistair the Clueless

This reaction is typical ....some fans are willing to wait until the end of the season...others think that a change will be required if results don't improve.

All reasonable argued opinions are valid...after all we are all supporters....

If it were my business....I know what conversation I'd be having with Ally this morning.

DC

Not disagreeing with you totally about supporting Ally but surely it is time for him to get his finger out. A few Celtic fans were calling for Lenny to go this time last year. Difference is that Lenny was struggling in the SPL not the fourth tier.

As for "promotion not necessarily as champions". I think you may be out of step with about 99.9% of Gers fans on that one. Most Gers fans would have expected a cakewalk in the league and the possibility of at least one cup.

Seriously? You should win that league by 20 points ffs.

It's the players he has signed that is the problem.

Said it at the beginning. He should have been buying the best in the sfl and paying a grand a week max. Players who know how to cope with that league.

posted on 19/9/12

At the end of the day it would be nice to win some trophies, but it is least of my worries, all I care about is the league.

And going by that so far, its not been to bad! still unbeaten. But McCoist needs to get his act straight right now. This long ball nonesense is deplorable, what is the point in having a midfield.

If Rangers continue to play that way for the next few seasons then some will walk away!

Was pretty dire last night. We need to get back to 442. Formation we were playing does not work.

Where are the likes of Darren cole, hearty and Kyle Hutton?

Cole and Hutton especially looked good a couple of seasons back yet now thier not getting a game. Wtf?!?

Poor stuff last night in general.

Guys, sorry to barge in on this but can I add something?

I think the signings that have been made have been a mistake in light of the options available.

McCoist has gone down the route of signing SPL players as he is looking for quality. That's all very well, but it strikes me that he hasn't paid enough attention to the character and personality of the players that he has been signing. He's looked at their ability and nothing else and that, given your situation, was a mistake.

I think Sandaza is the prime example of that. Is he the type of player who will pull his socks up and bail you out through hard work when the going gets tough? No. He's the type that swans around with an ego and thinks he's better than he is. That's not the type of player that you need. You need grafters.

It strikes me that you have had the wrong signing policy and, dare I say, the wrong man in charge of that signing policy.

Good point Tim, why the hell he didnt try and get players like Rory McCallister, El Allagui, Jamie Stevenson etc is beyond me.
