He slated some players saying they were not good enough then a few days later made an article about fans being patient and giving the young players time even though both articles contained some of the se players.. The truth is we are all upset by the clubs plight and are even more concerned by the lacklustre way the current board are going about resolving it..

Wishi wants a magic wand....ok, off to lala land it is

No; but it's an excuse that's been overused for the last few seasons. Right now we have:

A new manager unproven at a club of Liverpool's calibre, or what calibre it has left;

New coaching staff who can't seem to educate the likes of Suarez where the goal is or teach defenders how to defend our goal;

New training regimes - that don't appear to be working.

New philosophy of how to play - tika taka which doesn't work and no plan B

New players - so have most of the other teams, and they can seem to find the goal. We don't have a backup striker for Suarez. Major fail. The only two players of note we have right now are Sterling and Allen.

Not so. I am actually pleased with the way we are shaping up. I believe that BR will take us forward, but that it will be the end of this season's transfer window that will really prove it.
By then he will know who can / can't play his way and will ship out those who can't and replace them with players who can.

Hey, Poolmy, you and your lady look nice!

............

Will he though?

What happened with the whole Andy Carroll thing again???

'By then he will know who can / can't play his way and will ship out those who can't and replace them with players who can'

By then if this rot carries on we'll be in the Championship (we're currently eighteenth) and he won't be in any position to ship anyone out, 'cos he'll be shipped out himself.

That's the hard truth of it.

He's got no time, he has to get it right NOW.

As for worrying about the results of other teams, sorry, but they all play a part.

Suarez is right, the Carroll thing showed his naivity.

Major fail. It bodes ill. If he can learn by his mistakes, all well and good, but all managers stick to their guns.

So will he, and it could be his downfall.

Andy Carroll cannot play Brendans way. As for what happened in the window, neither you, I or anyone else on here (unless they work high up for LFC) have the slightest idea.
My theory is that as we wouldn't be playing Carroll anyway, there was no point having him here. I very much doubt that anyone intended for him not to be replaced, but c'est la vie.

Wishi: "He's got no time, he has to get it right NOW."

How do you think that can happen? Don't like to repeat myself, but .....We have :
A new manager
New coaching staff
New training regimes
New philosophy of how to play
New players

How can it NOT take time?

The truth is tho Grizzly those to live by the sword die by the sword, he has been hung out to dry by the owners by not buying him a striker and if our goal scoring woes continue and Lfc go say another 3 games without a win the knives will be out.. That's the nature of the game now.. FSG have made his job very hard for him...

posted on 22/9/12

Whose knives will be out for him? The fans? The board ? The media?
"The nature of the game" according to who?

posted on 22/9/12

Oh. come off it, Grizzly, you know how it works.

For all the fans' griping and moaning we don't have a say, nor do the media, but you can sure as hell guarantee that the board do.

Why was Kenny sacked? Not just for the Suarez-Evra row, it was because we didn't get top four.

To Brendan's credit he said we wouldn't find this season easy, but you and I both know how this will end if we finish the season in the bottom half of the table. His head will roll.

The 180 page dossier has been well publicised, but what was in it that was so great it helped him get the job?

If this goes badly wrong we won't attract good players, players like Suarez will get p'd off and leave. The real glory hunters aren't the fans they're the modern day players.

It's the nature of the modern owner. Everton are unique with Moyes' ten year reign and winning diddly squat.

Well just have a quick look on the clubs official web site, listen to radio phone it's and even check the clubs Facebook page.. The fans have already started turning against him so I would tick that box..

The media are waiting for us to slip up after the Carroll affair so I would tick that box...

The bookies will have him as favourite for the chop so you can tick that box as well...

That's a lot of pressure for a new young manager...

Carroll can't play the Brendan way, eh? Got news for you - neither can the rest of them.

And if he was so sure about that why did he do a u-turn after Carroll left and voice regret?

You're welcome, Poolmy

Everton are clearly better than Liverpool just now
=====================================
Just now, maybe, and I'm not so sure about the clearly bit.
Im fully confident that we will finish above Everton come the end of the season, and beyond that, I feel we are more than equipped to beat united tomorrow, which will hopefully give the team a little more confidence.
Apart from the Arsenal game, Liverpool are playing good football, creating chances, and just need to start converting more of these opportunities.
I think some of you go way over the top, especially this season, which hasn't really started, in terms of either prematurely talking teams up, or down for that matter.
Roll on tomorrow, and maybe after a win against united, some of you may perk up a little.

To those of you moaning, you need to give Rodgers a chance. Your gaffa would never admit it but its his first season and it was hopefull at best that it would go smoothly with the amount of change going on.

Dont judge the team until they have played a good few more games together and learn the system and find thier shooting boots. The cost to finding out is having a season that you can write off but the gain is long term and i get the impression thats what the club is trying to achieve. This shows in blooding the youth and preparing them for things like next season.

I expect you to finish in a round the same place as last season but this time round you will have gained knowledge and experience.

Everton are better though.

'The real glory hunters aren't the fans they're the modern day players.'

And the owners.

People are right when they say we can't keep chopping and changing managers, but getting the right manager in the first place might've helped.

Di Matteo isn't too proven, either, but he has got a good team.

Rodgers is fair with an average squad.

posted on 22/9/12

How many season do we have to write off before it becomes a crisis though the longer we are out the mix the harder it is to get back.. This is the 4th season in a row that we have little hope..

Wishi, I'll try and respond to your points in order.

1. Kenny was sacked for spending way over a hundred million pounds on players who, being kind, are worth about 1/2 that amount. Also for the appalling form for the last half of the season. (No signs that things were moving in the right direction).

2. Not having seen the 180 page dossier, I can't categorically say what convinced FSG to go with him, but I would imagine some of it would have been a "ground up" overhaul of the entire structure of the club, from personnel, right through to the style of football we will be playing. I happen to like the "posession is king" philosophy.
3. I agree that the modern day footballers are the glory hunters, so why didn't Agger/Suarez etc leave? Maybve they also can see the future is looking good.
4. I really don't believe FSG will sack Rodgers (certainly hope not) if we finish bottom half - as long as we don't get relegated; which we won't.
5. It may well be that it will take more than one season (Certainly more than four games) to get it right, but as BR seems to have convinced a bunch of billionaires owners, and a bunch of quality footballers that he has the right ideas, maybe he has a bit more football knowledge than we do?

Kenny was the mistake. He spent so much money on over hyped individules who didnt fit into a particuler system. They were simply bought because they are seen as good players. At least Rodgers knows what he wants and has a clear vision which then the players and fans can relate to and if its not working with certain players then he must adjust it.

It was impossible to think that all the current squad could play this new set up. Some Liverpool fans come across as blinkered or spoilt because of previous good seasons and expect too much too soon. Its those fans that could ruin what could be a good thing by complaining right from the start and not giving anyone a decent crack at doing what they want.

Everton have had a good start to the season, no doubt, but to be fair to Rodgers, and the team, we should really have at least 4 more points,(City, Sunderland) than we have right now.
But as we know, ifs buts and maybes dont put you further up the table.
My point is though, that we are at least playing well enough in my opinion to be a lot further up that table already, and sooner rather than later the players will click, and start getting the results their play deserves, hopefully starting tomorrow.

The game tomorrow is a big one for BR.

Win and it may shut the naysayers and doom- mongers up and provide a lift for the whole club.

Lose and the pressure will really start to mount. We have Norwich ,Stoke and Reading in the league after that and those three games will go a long way in defining our season.
