GB, I think we now have the pace with Sterling, Assaidi & Suso playing out wide.
I see where your coming from though - who would you suggest?

Right now he's the best goal scorer they have- why would they sell him let alone to another PL team?

posted on 20/10/12

I think he is very much underrated as a player, and that is due to others in the City team holding him back. However, I can't see him signing at all. Mancini rates the guy, and would want a big fee for him.

I can see us targeting Walcott and Sturridge, both players who suit Brendan's style.

Adebayor.....if we can get him, no actually..my first choice would be BA....£7M!!! and a proven prem striker of the last 2yrs, he has pace power and technique and as a bonus he aint going to the acon;its nailed on for me!

One reason why not?? (dont mention his knee....hasnt flared up yet after +40 games for Ncastle!!)

I must admit, I rate Ba as well. The problem is, I think he is crucial to Newcastle. Despite rumors of issues in the dressing room, I still think they'd fight very hard to keep him and jack the price right up!

They cant raise it tho....its a release clause.

Ive read conflicting reports on that - something about that being a minimum and the press jumped on it? Its been a while, so I might be wrong on that point

Dzeko is exactly the sort of player we need.

A target man type who unlike Carroll has mobility and technique.

Dzeko is an excellent player, who would get in most other teams in Europe, and City wouldn't sell him for less than £25m (26 in 49 games for Bosnia). He is at his peak at 26 and there is no chance of him coming to Liverpool.

Hands off - You can have Balotelli though.

posted on 20/10/12

Am I the only one who would take Balotelli?

Dzeko's a top quality player (he should be for what he cost). I don't think city undervalue him or would even countenance a bid.

Darren Bent would be a beast for you lot in my opinion. He knows where the goal is...

If Rodgers doesn't think Carroll can fit the team then I can't see why he'd think Dzeko would. Ba seems a more realistic option.

Bent is 29 and would cost a fortune, I can't see us going for him.

posted on 20/10/12

Bent would get 25+ a season for you. It's like us buying Van Persie, sometimes you've just got to take 2 or 3 seasons and pay through the nose.

Our owners don't appreciate that though. After seeing money wasted they want value for money.

We're kind of in the same place as clubs TOOR, I'll confess I was amazed at the Van Persie deal and the Berbatov one before that. I don't think Bent would be a gamble though.

It's easier for you to blow money on 29 yr olds because you are in the CL.

We are in a position of trying to improve on the pitch and cut costs off it, signing Darren Bent for £15m plus does not come into that position.

Exactly, Champions League money funds those purchases.

Wouldn't Emile Heskey be more in your ballpark?

And along comes an eff wit....

I assume his wages alone would be prohibitive. Can't see it happening.
The simplest solution is to recall Carroll asap. I'm still confused as to what Rodgers' problem is with him.

posted on 21/10/12

I have to agree with that. At least give him a chance.

I'm still scratching my head that a premier league club, never mind one the size of Liverpool, have found themselves in a situation where they entered the season with arguably one senior striker, two at a push with Borini.

It's utterly ridiculous and makes the club look like amateurs. An injury or suspension to Suarez and we will be fooked.
