Luke Gale landed a golden-point drop-goal in extra time to complete a remarkable comeback victory for Leeds Rhinos against Huddersfield Giants.

Louis Senior and a Darnell McIntosh double put Giants 14-6 up despite Konrad Hurrell's reply for Leeds.

McIntosh added his third and Senior his second after half-time to establish a 26-6 lead with 18 minutes to go.

Leeds somehow clawed it back with Gale, Luke Briscoe, Alex Mellor and Hurrell tries taking the game to extra-time.

Huddersfield's Lee Gaskell, otherwise outstanding throughout the game, missed a drop-goal attempt and that proved costly for a dejected Giants side.

One concern for Leeds after the relief of their dramatic finish was the condition of James Donaldson, who was withdrawn on a stretcher after a tackle with Adam O'Brien with a lower back injury which is not thought to be serious.

Former Wales and Cardiff City defender Keith Pontin has died aged 64.

Pontin, from Pontyclun, made 193 league appearances for Cardiff between 1976 and 1983.

He won two Wales caps, making his debut in the famous 4-1 win over England in 1980.

"It is with great sadness that the club has learned of the passing of former Bluebird Keith Pontin," Cardiff said in a statement released on social media.

Pontin had been diagnosed with dementia in 2016, when aged 59.

In a BBC Wales interview two years later his family said they believed the condition was caused by years of heading the ball.

Pontin came through Cardiff's youth ranks before making his senior debut in 1976.

He played for the club in the second tier for six seasons until they were relegated in 1981-82.

He joined Merthyr Tydfil in 1983 and later played for Barry Town.

Why did Wigan go into administration? Because their new owner didn't have enough cash, or the desire to, subsidise significant operating losses at the football club.

Begs the question, what would've happened if West Brom had gone into administration on the 1st July? Would they have been forced to play in the play offs, while appealing?

Hosono eventually reached his homeland, where newspaper headlines declared him to be the “Lucky Japanese Boy.”

He provided statements, interviews, and family photos for several newspapers in Japan, and this gave him a level of fame.

A harsh denouncement, made by Archibald Gracie, a first-class passenger, called him a “stowaway.” Japanese newspapers followed up quickly, criticizing Hosono publicly.

Evidence that came to light in the late 1990s, however, suggested Gracie had confused Hosono (whose grandson is famed musician Haruomi Hosono) with another passenger of Asian descent.
