And it will only get worse once Sachin retires...
Good day for England but theres plenty of cricket left to play. India will be looking at 350ish and with Dhoni still there I wouldn`t put it past them. We need an early wicket to calm my nerves .
david first of all matt prior is another player that comes just before the tail. he scores 50s and 100s. so does hussey and etc.
lets be honest no team in world wud have sticked with the same captain as dhoni after losing 8-0. strauss retired after 2-0 loss.
with all due respect to panesar, he is no where as gd as what our batsman are making it look like.
i have high expectations from this team and that is why i am annoyed with the performances from this team.
Matt prior usually scores those 50s and 100s batting with the tail and like I said hogging the strike and playing shots, it doesn't always come off though. Maybe you are right and dhoni needs to be dropped for at least a couple of games.
In fairness to the guy though he has played pretty much every game of cricket in all forms for how long? Lots of England players have been rested for particular series over the years. Also Matt prior only plays in tests for England and doesn't have the added responsibility of the captaincy
It would still be very brave for the Indian selectors to drop some of the players in this team though as I would imagine there will be lucrative sponsorship deals involved as the fan bases involved are huge.
Is Dhoni was dropped who would replace him as captain and also keeper?
India look lost. However, England only have cook and KP in form, so anything could happen.
I'm getting 2nd test dejavu again. Hope Comptom gets a 50 at least this time.
If England win this, surely the Indians need to go back to the drawing board and start again. They have too many issues. Cook and Compton looking solid
Cook 67
Compton 27
Get a folking move on mate
Nasser and knight having a laugh at sehwags run out yesterday, showed replays about 5 times
Compton not the most entertaining innings but helps England get a good start.
what a start!! Cook IS going to go down as one of the greats isn't he? I have a feeling he is now at the stage where Strauss was before it all started to go wrong - Captain fantastic, leads from the front with his batting.
Cook is creating his own legacy if he get's on 5 tons in 5 tests as skipper.
Age 27, over 7,000 test runs, 23 hundreds, average of 50, how good can cookie really get ?
Until he performs against the best bowling sides in the world i.e SA, he doesnt deserve to be classed as one of Englands greats.
The 3 teams he needs to improve his record against is Pakistan, NZ and SA.
Cook beats Sachin to 7000 runs in terms of age and games
I think the NZ record will be improved over the next 6 months or so.
(kash)........please......your not comparing Cook with Tendulkar are you.......please.
loool kash games? sachin scored 7000 15 innings before cook did. get ur facts right
Rabbit it's not me but the Indian production team. I'm just putting it forward to the guys who are not watching the test.
I must have missed that Viru
The one thing Cook has in his favour over SRT is the fact that he is not worshipped as a demi-god.
That lack of extra pressure will no doubt help him as his career develops.
Cook averaged 32 and got a century against SA - not great but not that bad. FACT - Cook has played less test matches than Boycott, Cowdrey and Hammond. ALL considered greats
His projected career record if he finishes around the age of 37 based on his current record is Runs 18,832 and 100s-61!! Doesn't sound too bad to me...!!
FACT -
Oh and that rubbish about him 'not doing it against SA' whats that all about? Ian Botham never scored a century against the great west indies side - don't tell me HE wasn't a great!!
