Another Referee Blunder!!

HRH, he had a knee to the back of his leg. Also an arm on his body. The only thing that goes against Bale is that he lands on his chest and looks at officials. On this occasion the penalty was blatant.

D'Jeezus...................................The referee has to be certain not make a conclusion!!!

That's when it becomes guesswork & hoping you make the right choice! Which in this case he did not!!

A conclusion is something you come to at the end of a thought process.

For example the refs thought process here...
Was there enough contact for a foul? No.
Did Bale try to deceive me to win a penalty? Yes
Conclusion = Dive.

After such a thought process the ref was certain it was a dive.

No guesswork. Conclusion does not = Guess.

If referees are being blamed for being influenced by his reputation, then you must ask who is responsible for building that reputation in the first place.

Don't blame the press, they build their articles and post-match reports on replays and facts....

A reputation may be built up by others, but all based on the actions of it's subject

Contact or not, I hold no sympathy.

Unless Bale is significantly quicker than any other player I do not see the point, and as far as I am aware there are faster players than Bale.

And judging by the game in February between Arsenal and Spurs, a touch is not needed for Bale to go to ground.

Suarez manages to go down from a standing start, with both arms and legs out stretched, with no other player even attempting to tackle him..... that is what you call a diver.

Bale has been fouled on 3 separate occasions when travelling at full throttle and received a booking each time.

Its no surprise really, the general level of refereeing is abysmal at best (unless you play for Man Utd or Arsenal of course) and they seem easily led, intimidated and incapable of thinking for themselves.

Getting tapped in one knee, even at full throttle, doesn't make both your legs flip backwards. If Bale is going to consistently dive he needs to look more convincing doing it.

"Bale has been fouled on 3 separate occasions when travelling at full throttle and received a booking each time."

-----------------

I'll say it again. The boy who cried wolf so many times has built a rod for his own back.

It will take time for referees to start to trust him again. Suddenly all those free-kicks, penalties and yellow cards for opposing teams that he gained over the last few seasons are coming back to bite.

Both Bales and Suarez are divers, they've got no one else to blame but themselves for being pulled up for diving, even if there is contact.

We are still waiting for the Pires, Eduardo, Reyes, Carzorla, Walnut, Van Persil, etc etc etc vast amount of dives and undeserved points to come back and bite....... but we all know it wont.

I wonder how many of you bothered to look at this link that VertonHengy posted earlier? Clear evidence of knee connecting with Bale's leg!

Some of you guys would swear Black was White if you thought you could get away with it!

Greaves that picture shows beyond any doubt its a clear pen

posted on 29/12/12

What that picture doesn't show is Bale flinging both his legs back after the contact. Yes he was touched but it wasn't a foul and his reaction was way over the top

fair point

although he didn't throw himself to the ground like he has done before, or feign injury, or appeal for the pen. He fell over.

Yes it was a foul. The defender could have pulled out as he should have done because he knew he was beaten.

But he left an arm and a knee out in the hope that Bale would get done for diving and it paid off.

Who is cheating who?

posted on 29/12/12

It was the way he did it, both feet go back when touched on the knee. It doesn't look natural. Remember Eduardo for Arsenal? At one point you could have taken a chainsaw to him and he wouldn't have got a pen, Bale could end up like that.

posted on 29/12/12

It doesn't matter if Bale dived and did 10 cartwheels and flips in the process. The defender is the player who broke the rules.

posted on 29/12/12

It would be a different story if the defender pulled out and Bale through himself to the ground.

*threw not through

Thunderkiss.. I take your point, that to some extent Bale has made a rod for his own back. The thing is that's 2 or 3 in a row that referees have got wrong, his reputation is being made on incorrect decisions more often than actual dives.

That's why we're frustrated.

Admittedly it didn't look natural, but then was it natural or fair for the Sunderland player to catch his knee and put an arm out while being nowhere near the ball..?
