By the summer Arsenal will have let go Sanchez, Ramsey, Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshere, Sokratis, Mustafi, Mkhitaryan and Welbeck in the past three years

Money spent on fees: £190m
Money received: £0
--------------------------

Good point. We have been pathetic with our transfer business.

But Wenger was a transfer genius.

F/ck me. Based purely on his fee alone, Sokratis cost us over £230k per appearance.

What's Wenger got to do with Ramsey, Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshere, Sokratis, Mustafi, Mkhitaryan and Welbeck going for a free?

Did you just tell Wenger to let it go

As far as i can see, Wenger is only responsible for Sanchez.

Put them on contracts that did not reflect their market worth.

In fact, how much have we saved from cancelling Sokratis' contract and Ozil going to Fener on a free transfer? Because there's surely no way they'd have accepted leaving without being given a reasonably hefty pay off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not really only about that though, is it mate?

Ridding the dressing room of the toxic element.

ESR said on Monday night how they players are 'so much more together now'.

That is telling, I'd say.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How do you know Sokratis was part of the toxic element though Lex? You don't.

One of the guys I follow on Twitter is a regular watcher of the U23s and was saying that Sokratis was really good with the younger players and helped out a lot when he wasn't playing.

Yes there is a toxic element that need to be got rid of. But we can't just lump Sokratis into that group for the sake of it. He was earning £92k a week and wasn't in the matchday squad, so yes, it absolutely was about getting him off the wage bill. I just don't know how much we've saved in doing so.

Guy is in his 30s, Samir. Probably only has a couple more seasons left in his legs (outside of the Greek league).

Hasn't played regularly for almost a year now.

He might not have been in with Ozil, Kolasinac and Mustafi, but I doubt he was happy with his situation.

Wenger said publicily he had reservations about Ozil's contract size.

Ramsey was on circa £80k. He left after Wenger.

Santi had a very bad injury, so we didn't offer him an extension.

Wilshere wasn't offered anything because of his injuries.

Sokratis was signed by Emery

Only player you've got a point about it Mustafi.

Sure, but not being happy with your situation doesn't equate to being a toxic influence.

To be honest, it doesn't matter now anyway, as he's gone, but it would still help us a lot if we can at least get some money for the players we're offloading, even if the fees are minimal. Better than nothing.

Still gave it to him. So no point in pretending otherwise after it backfired.

Ramsey was on circa £80k. He left after Wenger.
--------
Was offered £250k a week by Wenger before it was pulled by Sanllehi

Wilshere wasn't offered anything because of his injuries.
--------------
Wenger gave him a contract worth £100k a week that he turned down before leaving on a free

Only player you've got a point about it Mustafi.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Mislintat signed Leno, Sok, Gouen, Torreira etc. and paid the price. No one says a word abt Wenger's poor signing record without David Dein holding his hand. (apart a few in the know)

Tbh of all the late 20s/30 year olds at the club, which do you think Sokratis was more likely to hang around with?

Not saying he'd have been a ringleader mind.

A fee for him would be totally unrealistic I'd say. It's way better this way.
