oUr BeSt ChAnCe Of SuCcEeDiNg Is If ArTeTa SuCcEeDs?
Yeah, silly me to come on a football forum, on the arsenal thread to ask a question about, well.. Arsenal.
Seriously, chill man.
I am not unhappy with our preseaon and what I have watched so far. We play with much more intend going forward. The real issue is we are making mistakes in areas we cant allow (that hasnt really changed) and our strikers arent clinical especially Auba missing sitter after sitter.

Predo for next season GT?
Ask me in November again. Still time to bring players in and also players moving.

But once Xhaka comes back in he'll go back to playing as a third CB and we'll lose the midfield and any attacking intent we had
Can't believe we're pretty much gonna line up with the same team we had last season minus MO

TBH, Arteta will be sacked by then and we could finally appoint a manager who knows what he's doing.
Or, we can appoint another clueless wannabe.

and Ceballos
So there is hope and time to bring a CM in. It really will define our season.
All I will say is that we arent far behind Chelsea footballwise. They are more efficient and clinical in front of goal.

Yes if we create their chances then surely this will be the outcome, Pete.
If we going to make these gifts like today we can bring in 10 new players. No chance we finish top 6
Well Lokongo covers the Ceba hole I imagine, given how little we could rely on him last year anyway
So that means we have the numbers, just not the quality. And with Xhaka regarded highly enough to get a pay rise I imagine he's seen as the starter

I'm not sure people are getting worked up over anything but the same performances as last season, Lex. I've not watched any of the per season games. But those that have consistently say we're pretty much the same as last season; kinda meh offensively dotted with individual mistakes.
Perhaps people are rightly questioning how Arteta will try to resolve the issues we had last season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sezzer, my take is this.
Apart from a set piece coach, Ben White’s cameo today aside, everything is exactly as it was last season. I doubt we will see any massive changes, until/unless we make more changes to the squad.
Not putting this all on one player, but Xhaka staying doesn’t help that.

if you havent watched the game you only need to watch this one from Bellerin to know what I mean.
GT, you watched the game. How many chances did Auba/Laca get today?

Thomas partey's injury doesnt help either. Same as last season. The guy cant stay fit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
laca hadnt any clear cut chances but was busy.
Auba had a good chance in the first few minutes.
He has to score from 2 sitters. One header free on target and right before the end of the game he missed another sitter.
Think Auba must be done
I see stuff on his socials and he seems like he's working hard off the pitch but he just seems to have hit some mental block. I don't think he's lost his pace or anything as far as I can tell
Auba began the game with good intend I have to say but after Chelsea scored he disappeared.
Still missed at least two sitters that he needs to score.
Headers arent his best strength so that he missed that chance I can forgive. The other chance just before the end of the game he really cant miss. It was a good pass right into his gun of goal but he put it wide.

Yeh I was worried about this. Auba always misses sitters but still scored bags of goals because he had plenty of chances. That has significantly declined under Arteta last year. Not just for Auba but all our attackers. We just don't create enough chances anymore.
Forget Xhaka staying. If Arteta doesn't work on improving chance creation, we are looking at another hard slog season
Creating chances wasnt our issue today, Seebs.
We created enough allthough we created their chances as well due to pathetic defending. leno for example created 3 clear cut chances for them which they missed out on.

Auba has always been physically weak and zero hold up play but he was always clinical.
He has been fluffing a lot of clear cut chances now for a while
