That's not my point pp. However, injuries happen, and I don't think his reason can be he won't be selected. Southgate will probably jump to Man U if they came calling, or his contract won't be renewed after the summer. But whoever turns up afterwards could have selected him.

Surely there is a bigger chance of him sounding petulant, or anti-England, if he gave reasons. Don't really see the need for the show of retirement - he isn't Mbappe, Saka or Kane. He is just a full back, most aren't bothered by in all honesty, just going about his business.

Not really. For the sake of my mental health is a great one.
When Paul Scholes retired from international football his reasons were for his family and to concentrate on club football. The words people heard and the way they are still portrayed were "I can't get in the midfield and I am throwing the toys out my pram. I hate England and I am unwilling to play out wide for you and your stinky country".
Only cvnts. This just leads to more speculation and unwarranted attention. Talksport are having a great day.
Only cvnts = TalkSport and their listeners surely??
Opposition fans need anything to get on your back. Don't need to give them ammunition.
Like retiring from international football?
Ben White hasn't retired from international football.
No because that would give ammunition to opposition fans to get on his back...
I am saying the opposite. If had retired from international football, he would get less flack. And no, Scholes didn't get it like you are making out.
Neither did Vardy. In fact, there was a lot of sympathy for Vardy for getting fecked about.
Do you think there would be a lot of sympathy for White? He wasn't exactly fecked about, opposition fans don't rate him, and unlike Leicester we are rivals with the other big fanbases.
You are deluding yourself if you think White retiring from international football would lead to less "ammunition" for rival fans.
And Scholes certainly did get a lot of stick for his decision.

Hipsters in meltdown aye.
Would have much preferred Inter to Athletico, though, haven't watched much of Athletico this season but assuming they are still an absolute bore and will probably be like Porto on double difficulty against us
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I knew they would beat Inter but I didn’t expect them to be as impressive as they were last night. We absolutely need to avoid them, I’m upgrading them to worst possible draw after City

I doubt it's anything to do with being a backup. I think most people consider it an honour to be called up for your country. Southgate had no choice but to back his coach. Must have been a monstrous fall-out to hold a feud this long!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
White doesn’t seem like that type of guy tbh. Football seems more like a job than a passion to him

Why is this not a red card? It’s sexual assault also the way Savic goes down
It was entirely consensual your honour
He had to have quite a fumble to find it.
