I hope he will be straight away, but I doubt it because Arteta is enamoured with Havertz and I think he will give the opportunity to play himself out of the team.

But it would've mattered if he was integrated with the squad and banging in the goals though

Can you imagine the outrage if Shatvertz and we bench or big striker signing. If we fell behind early on in the league Arteta would be fooked

They will use the 'getting used to the league' excuse. But it does matter to the dressing room that the player in residence should be given the first opportunity. Injury should not mean you lose your spot. Or frankly you should sell the player. It will be fascinating to see what happens if Gyokeres comes on during games and scores freely while Havertz has been stinking in the first 60 mins or whatever.

I think the bigger controversy will be if we sign Eze. Eze is higher profile than Martinelli and that's where I could see a 'resident' player being benched straight away.
