Sheamus and Orton are actually very good in-ring wrestlers. Just boring characters.
------------------------------------------------------
I imagine the reaction wasn't about Sheamus & Orton as individuals, rather what they represented. The WWE's unrelenting capacity to allow their talents to grow stale

orton is a terrible individual, all his matches are dull, his moveset and originality in matches is worse than cenas

The only period of Orton's career where he hasn't been over to some significant degree is in the last 2 or so years, he is an established star whose been allowed to coast as a face thus growing stale.

he doesn't have the ability to play another charachter, that is why he grew stale. His time with the E has served its course there is nothing else they can do with his 1 dimensional boring charachter.

Already in his career he's played two different varieties of heel and babyface - each heel persona developing it's own cult following and each face persona riding it's momentum wave before it served it's purpose. To infer that he's one dimensional as a performer is slightly biased.

they have all essentially been pretty much the same charachter!

Yeah, they were pretty much the same character, just with a different name and haircut.

Only to the extent that each characters psychology was born through the last, which you know i like in characters. You'd never confuse the legend killer with the psycho of 07-09, you'd know it's the same actor but you wouldn't interchange the character performances........ same with his two face personas which have basically just been watered down renditions of the previous heel that proceeded them. His character is subtle yes, lacking in depth? Hell no!!!!

Yr opinion, his overness in times past suggests otherwise.

His overness with 12 year olds who'll cheer for anyone they're told to.

Rubbish. Only applies to this particuplar Orton persona, the other three were smark favourites

The Randy Boreton craze caught on in 2007 and has steadily grown.

He started polarising the smark community around that time, he had plenty who thought of him as the anti-Cena.

orton is cheered by the same people as cena, others who boo cena dont care enough about him to bother

^ again, that's this Orton. I'm arguing your opinion that he holds no appeal period and has run his course

and has been for a very long time

Orton rode the crest of Evolution and ran it in to the ground.

2 or so years out of a career of 10? Cena's been the same guy, and got the same mixed reaction for 8 out of 10. But you can't get rid of Cena because his mixed reaction's more passionate

cena can change, he was a great heel and completly different face, orton was the same

Orton rode the crest of Evolution and left at the most opportune moment for both himself and Batista. Evolution was centric to both those characters appeal, Batista more from a practical standpoint due to some very good booking, Orton from a character psychology standpoint - he's relished the role of modern day HHH II ever since

He had a rapper gimmick then got forced through the boy scout template. Two different characters one of which has bored us over and over and over again down the generations.

better than just staring for 10 years

I wish i could tell you if Cena stares constantly, but for the life of me he does this waving his arm infront of his face thing and suddenly becomes invisible
