Of course you can argue with those stats!

They are all ifs and buts. To say Billy goes for the win all the time is rubbish. He frequently sets the team out not to concede. I don't mind him doing that and getting two clean sheets recently is great. But there is no way he always goes out on attack mode. During the 5/6 game winning streak we played very attacking but that was because we had nothing to lose. As soon as we got into the play-offs we've been pretty average.

Whatever I say Canniga your obviously not going to agree because if you don't like the guy it doesn't matter if he got us promoted you would still not like him.

i have tried to argue on facts not just opinion as if you don't like someone your opinion isn't going to change if someone else says something differently most probably.

However you can't argue with facts and that shows you.

Also I generally think that is around the score we would have got if SOD had stayed in charge and with BD even factoring McLeish disastrous run, he can still top SOD's score!

Say we were drawing 0-0 SOD would hold on for the point, but with BD we would go for the win e.g with Hull
---------------------------------------
Rubbish! SOD used to do the same

SOD had been known to go for it and go for more goals .. whereas Davies will defend a 1-0 and give us all heart attacks. SOD defended by attacking

Davies is doing an ok job and certainly turned around the mess we were in so no gripes from me as yet

I am not arguing that SOD was a bad manager for us as he wasn't.

BD is just by far a better manager for us though. and IMO we will have a lot better chance of getting into the PL with BD then we would have ever have done with SOD!

If SOD had got to the transfer window, I believe he'd have brought a winger in ... maybe Burke as rumored in December. Given that "his" forwards were scoring and our league position he may well of had us in the playoffs if not better. It's the players you work that will bring you results.

Saying that Davies should get us there next year as he will have backing. And he better!

I generally think Billy has done a great job for us as well. From being where we were when he took over to now in the final game having a chance to get into the play-offs is remarkable.

Anyone would have bitten someone's hand off if they were offered that the day BD took over!

Unless your Canniga (and maybe Webbo ) though!

SBD... I haven't slagged him off..... yet

He's done a good job, not great though

BTW.. I don't sing his name at games

On the EIEIEIO ... I sing Cloughie WAS our King.

Davies isn't worthy of Prince never mind a King

That's boll0x. I don't dislike him at all. I actually quite like him and really like what he's said in interviews since he's been back.

You have provided some spurious "facts" that mean nothing right now. It's exaclty the same as me saying when SoD left we were in the same position that Billy has got us to now.

You're still basing your argument on opinion and that is fine but to say I won't listen because I dislike the guy is ridiculous coming from someone who worships the guy. Your support for him is way over the top, bordering on embarrassing at times. I'm just trying to point out that he hasn't been the messiah that you made out he would be. For once your amazing run of predictions hasn't come to fruition. I really hope results work out well for us and we make the play-offs and then if we win them I will grovel and say you were spot on. But until then I'll reserve my judgment.

I suppose I will take that from Minion anti-BD a few months back (as Stret's was Mr anti-BD )

Canniga seems to want that title now though Webbo

Also what has happened to Mark? Seems strange that he has literally dissapeared since MA left Forest

You can't argue with the points per game stats, caniggia. What you can argue with is the interpretation of them!

Obviously, I think SOD had the harder job, as he had to experiment with a relatively new set of players to find the 'right formula'. BD had the benefit of knowing 'the strengths and weaknesses' of certain parties when he came in, so (arguably) that made it easier. Also, I think it helped him knowing that he had to work with what he had, as opposed to be distracted by the thought of bringing in new players.

Mister Ecks average is well and truly shocking though. I think the club should try and sue him for damages!!

I would agree with that SPH

This is a poor league. With the right investment a decent squad should walk this league.

Davies needs to understand that 1st or 2nd next year is a must.

We can't have Man Utd or Man City dominating can we

That isn't remarkable at all. Have a look at the league table and you'll realise any decent manager with a decent squad can go from relegation threatened to play-offs in much fewer than 10 games. Bolton have done it. Charlton can still make the play-offs after looking like they would go down. Leicester were odds on for promotion and are now bottom of the form table. This league is ridiculously close and all it takes is a run of results to compete.

I'm not taking anything away from Billy (well nothing that any sane person would attribute him anyway ) but I think we need to be rationale about what he's actually achieved. The real test will be next season.

If that's what you think then you really haven't got a clue. I'm very happy thanks, just not deluded.

Yes fair point. SBD assumes that because Billy got those points this season, he would have repeated it across the season. History suggests Billy's teams were very inconsistent and it's very unlikely that trend would have continued.

Ok I agree with your bit saying the real test is next season as in fairness it is.

How you can say though that what he is done is not that great though mystifies me a bit though if you look at the circumstances

Webbo saying must gain 1st or 2nd next year! I didn't know you were a fester fan

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not really already we are unbeaten at home under BD as we were the last time he was here also we used to go on massive runs as well, and even though we had baren spells as well, over the season this averaged out.

I mean this team we have now should be better then the one we had last time and we got into the playoffs with them, so why can it not be said that we would not have gained automatics with the players we had now if BD had been in charge?

Yes it is all based on assumptions as you said but that assumption is no less valid then yours saying we would have been inconsistent!

posted on 29/4/13

I'm not saying it's not that great. I'm saying he's done a very good job turning things around. a job any decent manager would have done with this squad of players. If our strikers could score then we'd probably be top 2. But I don't think he has performed miracles.
