Top 5.

Nobody beats Ali, but he's definitely up there with Joe Louis, Frazier and Foreman

Tyson wasn't truly at his peak for long but the guy wa a machine for a couple of years before going off the rails. In his prime he would've wiped the floor with any boxer bar possibly Ali.
I actually think a lot of people underrate just how good the guy was for a while.

Somewhere in the Top 10. Ali, Frazier, Holmes, Louis, Dempsey and Marciano would have to go above him I think, after that he's a good shout for 7th.

I also believe he would have beaten most at his peak, Ali aside, and even against Ali he would have had the speed and power to have a real chance.

People forget how calm and machine like Tyson was at his peak, he was only easily mentally affected after he went off the rails. Holyfield would never have bullied the bully if he'd fought prime Tyson.

Fighters that I rank above Tyson.

Ali
Louis
Lewis
Dempsey
Marciano
Foreman
Frazier
Liston
Holyfield (The Drug taking Cheat)
Wladamir Klitschko
Vitali Klitschko
Larry Holmes.

You become a great fighter by beating other great fighters.

Apart from a past it Larry Holmes, he never beat any great heavyweights.

He never beat any of the best heavyweights of his generation.

Holyfield,
Lewis,
Bowe,
And even Vitali was in his age range, and he doesn't have a win against any of them.

Vacated his title rather than fight Lennox.

Best win IMO was Tony Tucker.

Between 10-15 but no higher for me.

Yet you rank Wladimir Klitschko ahead of him. Fatal flaw in that argument of yours.

Wlad has a win over David Haye, better than any other win on Tyson's record.

You can't ignore Wlad's length of reign on top of the division.

posted on 9/7/13

Aye but Wlad has hardly had the baggage that went with Tyson. A prime Tyson would destroy a prime Wlad any day of any week. Tyson could probably jab a knockout victory against that glass jaw.

Had Tyson fight haye in his prime he'd have knocked haye out

Haye or Klitchko wouldn't have lasted a round against a prime Tyson. The strength and power Tyson had was incredible and its silly to say hw wouldn't have beaten Haye/Klitchko

Got to agree with d4

You can have your if and buts

But I'd rather deal with facts and what actually happened

He never beat anyone that good

You can't rank a boxer on what he could have done

"Prime" Tyson is the most overrated heavyweight of all time. As for Haye and Wlad going only 1 round, lesser fighters than both went the distance with "prime" Tyson.

Tyson beat some good fighters he beat some very good fighters as well.

He destroyed a lot of fighters he faced, but lacked career defining wins against great opposition.

A so called Prime Tyson could not put down Tucker.

Mental toughness, is a big part of a fighters make up, Tyson was very weak in this department.

I wouldn't argue too much if someone ranked Tyson above Wlad but he cannot be above as Wlad opposition has not been stellar either.

But he don't make the top 10.

Anywhere between 10-15 depending on how I'm feeling.

I think Tyson could have gone on to rival Ali.

He didn't beat anybody, because in his prime there was nobody to beat in fairness.

Once fighters like Holyfield, Lewis etc come through, he was off the rails. Didn't box anymore, just lived off his atomic power.

One of my favourite boxers, but it's hard to make a case for him to be ranked above 5th I think.

Credit too him though, he ducked nobody and put the world of boxing in the limelight again.

The boxing world needs another Tyson.

Also, I've never seen others fighters as intimidated as they were when they faced this guy.

He was truely scary.

posted on 9/7/13

Holyfield was not scared.

Tucker had a fight with him outside the ring after their fight too.

Liston and Foreman were just as intimidating if not more in there time.

posted on 9/7/13

Tyson was smoking drinking robbing people and not living the life through his so called Prime.

posted on 9/7/13

Douglas was not intimidated by Tyson, Think his mother died and he and was still in mourning when he fought Tyson.

Not all fighters were d4 no, but some had lost before they'd even got in the ring.

Don't even talk to me about Holyfield, despise the man. A cheat out the ring and in it.

posted on 9/7/13

I agree with you on Holyfield, and should strip him from my list really.

Tyson beat a lot before they got into the ring, but these were guys expecting to get a beating.

The top fighters would go in there looking to win themselves.

Douglas, even though an average fighter was not scared one bit after what he went through and was determined to win.

It's a shame Tyson parted with Rooney, from there on he was finished.

Potential to be ranked in the top 3, just scrapes top 10 for me though, doesn't have enough names on his list.

Youngest heavyweight champion ever though, wiped the floor with that division when he was a kid.

Hughie Fury says he will beat that record .

posted on 10/7/13

Tyson Fury says he will beat Haye.

Sad thing is, I think they're being serious.

posted on 10/7/13

Was that in an interview by the way? I'm hoping so I could do with a laugh.

posted on 10/7/13

At his best he was a ferocious talent and would have beaten a lot of the fighters who rightly are ranked above him in the all time lists.

When he lost his mojo his head movement went and he couldn't get inside as effectively without getting tagged. Tyson without the head movement was a pale imitation of the explosive fighter he was at his peak.
