He's like any striker at the top level. People will be looking for a goal every two games or he will come under pressure. I think he'll be able to do that with good service. If the service is lacking, he will look bad.
He looked pretty good and took his goal well, it came from him pressing the defender.
Why have you tagged Peterborough in the article?
I think Andy Carroll will gradually improve over the 9months of this season, much like our entire squad!!!
I truly believe we will start the season quite slowly but February/March will see us regain our composure and climb the table, eventually a top four finish is well within our reach!
The reason behind this prediction is Gerrard, Suarez, Meireles amongst others not having a full pre-season to get fit. The other 'top six' teams all have midweek European football to contend with and as the mancs have proved over the years, even the top teams struggle to win before and after midweek European excursions !!!
The jury's out, as far as I'm concerned. Took his goal really well, but the tackle he got carded for concerned me a little, maybe a discipline issue there?
Zero makes a good point; if he's getting good service he'll thrive; if not, he'll look distinctly ordinary...

I have seen all the games so far and he has improved especially fitness wise which is a massive factor for any striker!
This proves that at least he is taking the training seriously, and Kenny will be passing on invaluable experience which it appears is showing early signs of fruition!
Have to admit, for all the abusehe's had from WUMs on here about being fat oand slow, he showed some turn of pace for his goal...
A few defenders and keepers are going to be scared s-hitless when they see Carroll coming at them with full speed.
I'd still like to see a back up for him though
I was worried about his turn of pace but if he is training well (and losing a bit of weight) then I reckon he could be a handful! Good to hear positive comments...
I have to apologise for all my typos this morning, I'm on a train and my thumbs are too fat for this stupid little phone...
As a Liverpool + Posh supporter, I think Carroll has enormous potential and hope that he starts fulfilling that potential this season, starting on Saturday.
He'd be a good back up to David Ball and Lee Tomlin.....not sure he's capable of being any good above Championship level though.
