There seems to be a bit of imaginary force field going on at times. Keep you from getting to where you want in a timely manner. Not ok with this either.

Ok finely worked out the new thru ball, and really like it. Seems we are going back to the days of FIFA when lobbed balls confuse the game. Crossing and players go to statues..........not impressed with this side of the game. Other than these random players freezes i really like some of the new animations like a playing jumping and turning his back to block a defender/keeper clearing the ball.

PES 14 has finally got proper camera angles! You can now zoom in and out, like FIFA. No more unplayable camera angles. Welcome to the 21st century, Konami.

Graphics and gameplay reminded of PES on PS2. Seems better than previous versions (which is not saying much). Worth buying if you can pick it up for £20 from Tesco, like PES 13 last year.

Thanks for this article, I'm a long-time PES fan (from ISS on the SNES) but grudgingly made the switch to Fifa in 2012 (all my mates had Fifa and multiplayer nights were getting embaressing).

Didn't buy either Fifa or PES last year but I'm going to check out PES demo later after reading the comments here.

This game is fecking brilliant. I have lost count the amount of times I have played it, this is what I was hoping they would pull off every year a new PES came out for the last 5 years!

Definite first day buy for me, I just hope they don't screw up the ML like they did at the start last time, with the ridiculous autosave feature and the extremely random player form, however they did fix those things with a patch.

I really hope they sort out the flipping 2% problem on ML which ruined the fun of signing players last year.

Where do you guys get the option file save for PES?

The animations!

I've always thought PES' ball physics is the best, even over the last 5 years, it's the main reason why I stuck with PES. In Fifa it just felt like I was playing with a slightly heavy beach ball, but that may only be me.

But the animations on Fifa were excellent, whilst PES stayed robotic. However this year, it is much better. This along with the already fantastic ball physics, which has been there from the ISS days, has made this years PES one hell of a footballing game!

Other small things like how the players take quick shots with their weaker foot if it's the logical option in that scenario, the collision physics, and the dynamic morale of individual players throughout the match (not sure if this is present in the demo, but feels like it) are all fantastic.

CSTP, yeah I tried soooooo hard to sign Neymar, even 4 years down the line winning CL 3 times, PL 4 times, best scout and everything. He would not move from 2%. It was ridiculous!

I thought it was good but now I can't even play this FIFA demo after playing PES. I just lost 1-0 as Dortmund against Red Bulls. They had 90% pass accuracy and scored with their only shot, a header (headers seem to go in a lot). The players don't stop moving and are barely in control of the ball and the passing isn't good enough to make up for it.

For me the passing felt good, and I was impressed by player movement (attackers make much better runs than on 2013). So build up play in that respect feels more fluid.

Shooting will take a fair bit of adapting but I think it should be good given time.

I'm not really a fan of the dribbling at the moment and I'm finding defending a lot harder.

Also I think the game speed should be a bit faster (last year I was able to change this and so I imagine the actual game will also have this option).

The game plan is crap by the way; selecting the right team/formation was very easy last year but in the demo the cursor is sooo slow and you can't be so flexible with changing positions/roles.

CSTP use the directional pad on team select. Not the analog stick.

The dribbling is immense IMO. Difficult at first but you feel like the player once you've got the hang of it. Great touch and close control and can take a slightly harder touch to get away.

Does anyone else here use the d-pad to move the players? Or is it just me left doing that?

I really like the dribbling. First I need to work on the skills though, I only really learned about 5 skills in PES 2013 whereas I knew basically all of them in FIFA 13. And now I need to relearn them because they've changed a bit

I haven't consistently used the d pad since they've introduced the analog.

Although that's all I use on Virtua Fighter.
