Yeah agreed. Philander good in own conditions though. I'm surprised the ICC allow players to wear zip pockets on trousers.....

Mafia, what you make of the incident?

ABs reaction

Reacting on the incident, AB de Villiers said the Proteas were not cheats.

“Honestly, we're not the team that scratches the ball,” he insisted. “We don't cheat, it's as simple as that. I know Faffy very well, he's the last man to try anything like that.”

De Villiers said du Plessis, South Africa's captain in Twenty20s, was responsible for looking after the condition of the ball and keeping the shine on. “It's not an easy job, I thought he did it very well,” de Villiers said.

The South African wicket keeper batsman said he had no idea how the umpires discovered the ball's condition had changed. “There was no talk about it, no warnings and nothing, it was just out of nowhere,” he said.

Load of BS from AB

AB needs to get real and see some of the video clips from today. His countrymen commentators were embarrassed by it. AB has also accused England of ball tampering in the past- just shows you have to be careful what you say.

These are his comments about England ;

"If they are doing something funny with the ball, then it's definitely a concern, yes, but we need proof of that," said A B De Villiers, South Africa's captain, yesterday. "Look, they seem to get it to reverse a bit quicker than the rest of the teams so maybe they've just got really good skill in their bowlers.
"We've tried as well, I think all teams try to do that, and we haven't really managed to succeed, but we'll try that again tomorrow and see if our bowlers can find that skill to reverse the ball."

This is what happens when brother Amla decides to miss a test. The most honest man in cricket is in SA and his team resort to dirty tactics and denial

I just watched the video, and just as Afridi14 said, Faf's reaction says it all. He clearly acts like a man who has been caught red handed and has nothing to say in defence. And based on common sense Saffers wouldn't start playing with the condition of the ball while being 300 odd runs ahead and still have an innings to play with the opposition team 4 down already. They have definitely been doing this since the start of the match. My opinion has nothing to do with the fact that they are playing against Pakistan, and personally I really admire Steyn, AB, Smith, Amla, Kallis, Faf which is half of Saffers team, so my opinion of Saffers being cheats in this match is not a result of any bias or anything.
IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT THEY HAVE CHEATED AND SHOULD GET SOME STICK BY THE MATCH REFEREE. They were outplaying us in this match by a big wide margin and we were accepting it completely but now if that was done through cheating then very sorry boys you can cherish this victory as much as you want but it means nothing in any cricket fan's eyes. Period!

Can anyone answer why the ashes series is straight after the previous one

I know our hemisphere's seasons collide and it makes it diffiicult, i thought it was 18 months after northern tour then 30 months after southern tour

So then;
Faf gets 50% match fee fine after pleading guilty... Are the ICC for real??? What a feckinnn joke that is. Scandalous if you ask me. Think the ICC need to grow a pair in all honesty.... Completely agree with waqars commentary this morning- Saffers have got away with it big time

posted on 26/10/13

That's a complete and utter disgrace. You get 50% fines for showing dissent to the umpire. Just pathetic.

Polbet - England and Aussies decided to move the Ashes away from world cup year as they both cited that after the Ashes they are too tired mentally for a 50 over world cup campaign.

The very fact that he admitted it means he's guilty. What nonsense. Gurantee if this was a pak India or Lanka player the umpire would have taken a different viewpoint

I hope it continues now .. the icc as just given free reign for players to cheat now.. Ball tampering will be the norm from now on. The Icc are corrupt.

Exactly, if thas the kind of attitude and approach they are going to have then they may aswell legalise it.... Saffers havent picked up one single wicket in 4 sessions since the zipper-gate incident - its no coincidence.... farce.

Putting aside the fairly pathetic punishment for this and yet again leaving the door wide open for cheats, as the ICC and certain boards have done before, it's beyond me how Faf can only loose 50% of his match fee. How can he be paid anything when proved guilty of cheating. Yet another message that cheat all you want we'll happily have you back or pay you anyway. Being paid for cheating. Interesting concept.

posted on 26/10/13

Indeed. They have now encouraged players to tamper with the ball. I still can't believe Saffers were this desperate!

posted on 26/10/13

winning,

Obviously they were deserate. losing 1-0, and deseprate to get back into the series. Dead and flat tracks doing nothing for the seam bowlers and they resorted to dirty tactics and its paid off in the first innings and partly for the second innings too......

Since the 14th over when they caught got out - a seamer hasnt taken a single wicket - thats why they were deseprate and cheated their way to a drawn series....

posted on 26/10/13

14th over, since they got caught out***

posted on 26/10/13

good that their cheating egos have been caught up.

and you are right, the wickets pattern after that incident clearly shows that act was not as much 'unintentional and accidental' as it seemed to the match referee.
