Best Midfield

Carvajal? Hes a right back. Think you mean isco

Ignoring the fact that simply having the best midfield does not mean you'll make it to the semi-finals, do you not think that one of those 4 just looks a little out of place?

Don't get me wrong, I'd be perfectly comfortable saying that we have one of the top 3 midfields in the premier league, but this is going way to far.

Also why no Isco included for Madrid>

I would put yours at the bottom of this pile.

Hard to chose between Real and Bayern for me, but I will go with Real.

From that list, I'd go:

Bayern Munich
Real Madrid
Barcelona
Arsenal

But I'd also have Chelsea above Arsenal, as I would Juventus and potentially Roma too.

Bayern will win it

I dont rate chelseas deeper options that highly but I'd say city have a better midfield then us on paper.

Madrid's is the best on that list.

Roma? Come off it. I think Gervinho going to Seria A and dominating it speaks volumes for the league. Juve have a class midfield though.

Arsenals midfield is much improved but let's not get carried away. Certainly one of the strongest in the pl but not the CL

Honestly cannot see anyone getting the better of Bayern over two legs.

Khedira is injured so no point of adding him.
Bayern & Barca have the best.

Yes, I forget Isco. The guy does not get enough games.

I was thinking De Rossi, Strootman, Ljajic, Pjanic and Totti, plus Florenzi. That's some midfield.

I already mentioned he is injured, but he will come back after the group stages and i think they are already qualified. Barcelona do not have the legs to face us anymore, but Bayern will be a great test.

He might not even be back before the season ends.

Bayern for me, but not by much though. In Schweinsteiger and Martinez, they have a stronger base than either Barca or Real IMO. Plus I really think Götze is a better player than Isco. Ribery has only been second to Ronaldo as the best player this year, and Robben is still top quality. Then you consider that they still have the likes of Müller, Thiago and Shaqiri, it's a bit ridiculous how strong they are here.

Of course, whoever beats Bayern could win the Champions League, but you never know what could happen in the final if Arsenal get there. I am sure one-off match Arsenal could match them.

Arsenal's midefield is weakest on the OP's list by quite a way. It certainly put's things into perspective when they are viewed side by side.

Roma? Great team with some good players. But a better midfield than Arsenal's? Not a chance.
Chelsea's midfield ain't better either.

Just going by the midfield posted in the OP:

Arteta - average, one of the worst MFs in that OP, if not the worst
Ramsey - 10 decent games, suddenly he's Zidane
Wilshere - woefully out of form
Walcott - dreadful
Ozil - World Class. The only Arsenal MF that might stand a chance of getting into those other sides
Cazorla - been a while since he was properly fit / in form. Isn't ideally suited to playing out wide

Meanwhile, De Rossi would be first choice CM ahead of Arteta, Wilshere or Ramsey imo, Pjanic would get in ahead of Cazorla for me, and anyone with two legs would get a place ahead of Walcott. Florenzi is twice the player.

You're quite clearly an idiot. Leave it yeah? Jog on you mug.

Pjanic ahead of Cazorla?

At the end of the day, "dreadful" is how one would describe your garbage team.

do you watch Arsenal or just see quick highlights and read media reports ?

Arteta - is very good, one of the best midfielders in the league, can play AM, CM and DM.

Ramsey - I admit 10 games does not make him Zidane.....maybe Messi.......seriously though 10 games is enough to show his potential and it looks very good. Best Midfielder in the Premiership ATM and one of the best in Europe in CL games.

Wilshere - admit out of form but has potential. Last 2 games he is getting back to form....wait a few months and you will be cheering his name for England....

Cazorla - Yes he has been injured but his passing and awareness is brilliant. what yu fail to say is, is that he will only get better.....

Walcott - Been reading the Sun. Mirror or listening to Shitsport ? If you watch him you will see he is not a headless chicken or anythink like that. Check his stats for last year and previous to show what a big influence he has......he scores goals and assists....read the facts not the media...

Ozil...Agree 100%

you also fail to recognise the back up we have.

OX - Young talent. Hopefully when fit will prove this
Rosicky - last seasona nd this season he has proven age makes no difference. Has been brilliant for us
Podolski - 44 goals in 100 games for Germany ?....this is due to Ozil...when he is back and playing with Ozil........can't wait

Surprised Barca only have 1 vote. For me they have the best midfield in the world - Bayern's is strong yes but Xavi and Iniesta have done it for years now.

posted on 18/11/13

No joke, the German teams have shown if you press and can keep the ball better than anybody you will get results. When I say Barcelona do not have the legs anymore, their best player Xavi, the number of passes he made against us over the two-legs was incredible and now he is 33. Bayern has shown the way to do a job against them 7-0 on aggregate and Bayern, we defeated on their backyard and we repeated the same to the runner up finalist Dortmund without Walcott's pace. Arsenal players have more belief now.
