liverpool are sorting themselves out again after thier crash, still need a lot of changes, They wont be real league contenders under rodgers
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I was about to say that there are sensible posts on here by Arsenal fans, then I read this.

We wont win the league this year, the squad is too small in terms of top players so injuries really hurt us.

I see absolutely no reason why we can't win it under Rodgers though. He's made real progress in his 18 months. Every successful manager has to win their first league title at some point, you're not born with a track record.

We have a decent run of games coming up, so hopefully should be around the top 2 or 3 come February.
Considering the league started in September, and ends in May, you would have to say we have been, and are, contending.

Oops, forgot I wrote this article.

Looks to be some sensible comments, in summary it's not worth my money, then?

Have a punt on arsenal, Chris.

I got 16/1 at £10 just after Fergie retired.

rodgers just seems a wally

just because I have an opinion you disagree with doesn't mean it's not sensible

Indeed you are digby, but your assertion that Liverpool wont be real title contenders under Rodgers, is already being proven wrong due to the fact that they have been, and still are contending.

by real contenders I dont mean you wont be up there, I just mean I dont think he has it to go the whole season, his tactics some games are ridiculous

You may well 'think' he doesnt have it to go the whole season, but as I said earlier, its now approaching mid January, Liverpool have a decent run of games coming up, where you would fancy them to pick up points, the other teams above them face each other, and Liverpool at Anfield coming up, so in a season that starts in September, to be top toward the end of December, and a decent run in, they are contending, and more than likely will contend toward the end of the season.
Sturridge is back, and straight away back into his stride, with a goal and an assist, we have a few others on the verge of returning from injury, and the prospect of one or two new players coming into the club.
Of Liverpool's last 8 away games, we play 7 of those against teams currently in the bottom half of the table, whilst also welcoming Arsenal, City, Chelsea to Anfield, so we have it in our own hands to continue to contend till the end of the season.
I'm certainly not saying we will or can win the league, but we will certainly keep contending till the end of the season.

Not really my style. If we win the league, don't need money to make me feel any better!

If we get a settled defence and stop the injuries we can challenge to the end. But the chopping and changing at the back is costing us big time. However, as things stand we are title challengers.

Only time will tell

his tactics some games are ridiculous

--------------

His tactics against Arsenal were horribly exposed. I can't think of any other game where he has got it massively wrong though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Said this on your match thread yesterday, don't think you guys know how to hold a lead. I think if you look at teams like United of previous seasons, City, and Arsenal during 2013, once you go one goal up in a difficult fixture we tend to shut down for a little while, whereas Liverpool don't do that.

It's not a mandatory requirement for teams, just strikes me as something a side with Liverpools players need to learn to do.

BR seems to learn from mistakes like that. There were large gaps between midfield and Suarez that match that doesn't happen (much) anymore. It's all about evolution, not revolution

We are rank outsiders.

City and Chelsea have depth, wealth, and more experienced managers, and players with recent title wins.

Arsenal have been building for years to try and challenge, with an experienced manager, but lacking PL winners in the squad.

We have been building for 18 months, with an inexperienced manager, and no players who have won the PL.

Those things are not insurmountable, but it's very unlikely we will be challengers with 10 games left.

===============================
Apart from decent attacking midfield options, Arsenal, Chelsea, and United have very little in terms of out and out striker options.
I think to have just both Sturridge, and Suarez, we have more than most.

posted on 13/1/14

i'd rather have our midfield than your strikers.

posted on 13/1/14

United have very good strikers.

RVP, Rooney, Hernandez, even Welbeck is scoring as a striker.

Arsenal have the weakest bunch of strikers by far, but they have the best midfield other than City, and a good defensive unit now too in the main.

I think our odds of winning the title are 15/2.

Which means possible but very unlikely considering the odds on other clubs.

worth a punt? sure. likely? no.
the bookies have it right.
