As usual we're being linked with that many people our scouting department must have more members than the Catholic Church!
i call bullshít on 20 mil
£17m for Shaqiri is a belting deal, do we Pique aswell?
I think salah will be decent but not worth that much of money. We were linked with Christian Atsu who went to Chelsea earlier this season. From what I've read aren't they really similar players? Can anyone enlighten me?

It was quite subtle but I was being a little facetious. Shakira/Shaqiri jokes wouldn't really be that funny.
I forgot Chelsea bought Atsu as well. Are they buying players just to annoy us??
Cfc annoy everyone. Hopefully we can beat em at Anfield and who knows, we maybe be above them after that.....wouldnt that pizz of maureen
Atsu was just a summer tedious link. I dont think we were ever after him. Chelsea bought and then sent him to there Dutch feeder club.
why does everyone believe he will cost 20mil cos the daily mail said so

Mata, for me, was too good for Chelsea, and I do not say that lightly nor wum. He could slot into Barca's team so easily, or Real, Beyern, etc., take your pick. I feel (and hope, Maureen needs to get real) this may come back to bite him in the a rse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mata wouldn't start for Real, Bayern, Barca or Arsenal.

Most sources indicate Chelsea are paying 11-12 with some add ons.
This 20m speculation may have come from someone at LFC as a "we tried really hard" story but in truth our budget for Salah probably was 10m at most.

So someone at Liverpool made up the 20m part of the transfer and fed it to the Mail? And at the same time told them that our budget was 18.5m, when really it was only 10m?
For some reason, some people will go to any lengths in order to scoff any piece of news that they themselves have not come up with. A strange hobby...
Sinister,
he would clearly start for Arsenal. The other teams mentioned have lots of top players so rotate a lot but he would play many games. Don't be silly

Its called using the press to your advantage. The media has numerous people in all clubs who leak information. Some of it will be true while the majority will be BS to appease the fans. It's one of the oldest trick in the book. End of the day it's a football club and not a church
Kash. So now we've just got to wait for Jose to come out and scoff it? Because if it is bull as you suggest, he would take great pleasure in telling the world....
And I'm well aware that clubs feed all sorts to the media, but I think a 8.5m discrepancy that you suggest would be taking it a little too far, don't you?
The Neymar/Barca , Bale/Madrid/Spurs example is all you need to know at the lengths at which clubs go to. Fans get told what they want to hear and the majority fall for it but some don't.

Of course it goes on, but to assume it happens with every transfer is way too cynical. Sometimes the press get it right, don't know if they have on this occasion, but it does happen....

No chance that he would start for Arsenal. He didn't even start for Chelsea.
Ozil is far better than Mata. Walcott is a guaranteed starter at RWF and Cazorla & Podolski are natural LWFs - unlike Mata who is a #10. Even Ramsey could play CAM better than Mata.
SM, I wouldn't agree.bothMata and Ozil are top players, each brings fantastic skills to the game. I couldnt differentiate between them. Dreamtime: if only we could sign both.

Update.... Mourinho has confirmed in his match-day notes that Salah has signed up and completed his move to Chelsea.
In terms of the 'leaks to the press' LFC are just doing their best to avoid the reality we were unlikely to ever be in the running for this player. It's not that we are not a club well suited for his talent simply we do not have owners who are willing to invest to assure Top 4 but just hope it arrives anyway.
It's important to realise that lack of investment is the cost we are paying for 'King Kenny's' profligacy with the money we gained from the sale of Torres. Carroll and Downing are destined to remain in the annals of football comedy for years to come.

Why are you assuming there's been a leak to the press? Only one person on here has suggested this is the case and now you take it as the truth? Is it not possible that we went as high as stated then refused to get drawn into a bidding war?
Someone let Brendan know, put him out of his misery, he still thinks he can sign him
Salah has to be looked at, and should have been looked at for the past four days as history. End of. Forget all. Move on. The very idea of harbouring thoughts of recruiting Salah to the cause should be banished. I suspect that this is Press talk. Full marks to FSG, they stuck to their guns. Get behind the club/squad/team/manager people.
It's in' Mail.
A degree of cynicism should be expected The figures quoted maybe correct, but I repeat. it's the Daily Mail ffs.
The same story says we will will sign nobody in this window. Is this the gospel truth too?
