We need strength in depth and taking up the 1 year option makes sense...scott Arfield got lots of stick and look at him now
According to oggy we are only bringin in 3 quality signings in the summer and we all know the defence needs attention so 2 spots their to go alongside joel lynch to allow us to play 3-5-2
Clarke n jerrard are useles...then clayts wont have to sit deep to protect the back four...and we need another center forward just incase jv gets injured so thats 3 taken
we,ve got lots of midfield options and to me if its only 3 coming in these are the positions were cover is required
Champers,.
It just proves what many us older ones already know - That modern day exam qualifications aren't worth the paper they are written on, hence reason many employers are now discarding them and setting people on based solely on their job interview.
I also wonder how many GCE's you and your like would have got, if they hadn't scrapped them and replaced them by the modern day, "every one's a winner" GCSE's, which even a monkey would get.
Anyhow Champers, you need to take more notice of what that "Wise-Owl-Wakey" has to say about Town & Wardy and you might just learn something.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't give Arfield any stick. I always thought there was a good player in him and often said so. I'm not surprised he's gone on a be a hit at Burnley. I'm sure he'd have thrived with Clayton and Norwood in the present system but so often got stuck on the right which was always a waste of his ability.
Ward CAN play a bit, but his game is detrimental to others in my opinion. How many of those sixty-odd shots off target could he have looked for a better option? He wants the glory every time.
What will it tell us Champers?
Your missing my point champers...if its only 3 coming in...would you replace wardy?...he wont cost us anything transfer fee wise and could still become more consistent....I,m trying to think how robins will see it
3 coming in means he needs players who can play in different positions, Ward can play left/right wing, part of a front 2 or off a front man. That tells me he'll be getting a new contract
"It just proves what many us older ones already know - That modern day exam qualifications aren't worth the paper they are written on, hence reason many employers are now discarding them and setting people on based solely on their job interview."
What absolute crap Whilst employers may take into account other life experiences into account, people don't get hired "solely on their job interview" at all. That's the kind of thing out-of-touch old folk say whilst propping up the bar of their local. They probably read it in the paper therefore it must be true.
The people thinking exams are simply getting easier need to consider that children these days have no less thirst for knowledge than previous generations, and we now live in an age where you can access an encyclopaedia within seconds in the palm of your hand. When I was at school, completing your homework relied on you listening and taking the right notes down. Now children can tune out of lessons more as anything they need to know is available at a moments notice.
Those who are mathematically or scientifically gifted at a young age can pursue these subjects at their own speed because the digital age allows them to do so. Hence why you now get 10 year olds who are able to sit A level examinations.
Is it not possible kids are just getting smarter instead of just damning the system instead?

That average is good enough.
The way I see it is if we keep wardy then we still get the 3 besides
So we keep him because he's sh-t in three positions instead of one?
Inconsistent yes sheite nar
it be interesting satday because joel lynch is apparently gonna be fit so robins will go 3-5-2 and wardy will probably partner naki
I think your being harsh Champers, like I say he's getting in the team ahead of recognised strikers right now. We've already said goodbye to Lopez and it's obvious that Paterson and Stead aren't wanted at Town anymore, those are two players we should be trying to offload and replace in the summer instead of Ward.
Champers,
That's a load of Bollox and you know it.
Teacher's today aren't a patch of what they were 20 years back and most of the best ones have already got out, or are in the process of doing so, because they've lost control of the classrooms and discipline has gone out of the window.
Kids are leaving school these days unable to read and write to any reasonable standard, which could never have happened in my school days.
Anybody these days can go to University, due to the constant "dumming" down of exam results, which is why they are virtually worthless, hence the reason why Alan Sugar and a fair amount of other top employers now discard them..
Anyhow, lets concentrate upon seeing Wardy being retained and making you eat your words next season.
Keep WARD.
Plenty of 'shots' from this fella.
It's no good saying he misses 'x' amount as a %age.
He's trying.
That's a lot more than can be said for some 'other members of staff''
He back tracks. on a regular basis when needed.
will try his hand at any position asked of him.
And scores GOALS.
Darn, do you think Ward developed as a player? Can you honestly say you have seen the lad improve?
You did mention that the stats from Saturday showed loads of attempts, but very few on target, Ward is one of the culprits! I've said before, how can a professional footballer miss the goals so often? That's not just having a dig at Ward either, they are all equally to blame.
So, c'mon Darn, get out of that and stay fashionable! Ya big girl's👗.
"He's trying"
We used to have lads in the U11s that were "triers". I didn't care much for them either.
Peter Clarke tries. Let's offer him a 5 year contract
He's trying
Trying and bluddy succeeding as well.
After all, he is still our second highest goal scorer this season with 7 league goals to his credit from his 35 appearances, mostly played out on the wing as a provider.
So stop knocking him for a change and look on the positives he brings to the team, because after all if he's missing chances, then that proves he's also getting in the right positions to convert them.
A couple of comedian-ettes
So hes not trying then ?
So he doesn't back track,
he doesn't score goals.
have lots of shots ???
So you'd get shut then,
Now the team in general.
As for 20 shots,
10 on target
1 goal..That can be, and should be improved upon.
Like I said
As long as those stats keep presenting themselves it shows we are attacking the opposition and the 'action' is at the right end of the field from a TOWN point of view.
In the Premiership, a lot of teams don't get many chances, so they have to be very effective in front of goal. Isn't the Premiership where we want Town to be. It can't be made a habit of not hitting the target, by which, I mean not just scoring goals. How many times have we nudged the person next to ourselves when Town have been pummelling the opponents goal and we have said, "Town 'll score soon", it's because they were hitting the post it bar, or a defender clearing the ball of the line. My point is, getting the ball on target often, usually results in goals, hence my gripe that the players aren't getting their shots on goal enough.
Darn, you're still a big girl's 👚! 😉
LV69, you don't half talk a load of rubbish. I agree with Mirf and Darn, Ward is class mate and he is been given grief for no need. He is just a bit unlucky. He just needs regular games and he will come good. 👍
