Sorry to hear that fields. I know it's a horrible feeling have been through that myself however I would urge you to start applying for government support asap.
They calculate whatever benefits etc from the day you apply for them not from when you were let go.
You've paid the NI and tax, you are due that support.

They gave it one day after the governments advice to close down all but about 5 sites across the country. They won’t have to pay SSP when closed down for any staff. I’m not going to say which company but it’s shiite.

There's 330bn available and you do need get that done asap.
I was made redundant on 31st of Jan. I applied for loads of positions about 50 before I swallowed my pride and went on jobseekers. Did that on 3rd of March. They gave me an appointment 2 weeks later. So I went.
In that time I took up a job offer to start next week, I just got a text message to say this (verbatim) :
Your first payment of JSA will be about £20 this will be paid to your account on 18/03/2020. We don't pay for the first 7 days of your claim. After this first payment you will get about £146 every 2 weeks . You must continue to go to the Jobcentre when we ask.

Yep, my wife is suffering with it now. Luckily for her my hours have reduced so I'm working only two and a half days per week.
