Calmed down a bit, not impressed one bit with that performance. But hey, hopefully its the wake up call they need and we got a lucky escape 3 points is 3 points. Chelsea will be more of the same i expect so hopefully we're much more switched on defensively.

The decline of Firmino was apparent again today. Just not working for him right now. Fortunately for him he doesn't really have the bench pressure to worry about losing his starting spot.

I'm really surprised by the reactions to yesterday. I thought leeds were good and attacked well, I'd only pinpoint the second of their goals as having someone to blame,

Yes the first Trent could have done better but it was a good ball forward and two great touches before a quality finish..

Their third looked at first like he got lucky off a mishit cross but in the reply it was an awesome pass, first touch and finish, if that was salah and firmino linking up we would be raving.

Sometimes you have to step back and applaud the opposition

I also really rated keita yesterday we had a high press back, he was a good link between the midfield and attack and with a bit more confidence will come better form, I don't think hooking him off helped him though, Wij was abysmal.

I think Keita may find himself on the bench next week. I can see us going with Wijnaldum, Henderson and Fabinho there. That's if Gini is still here.

Gomez was left sprawling due to a good touch back inside, when mane and Salah do that to send opposition defenders on their ass we applaud them for the act, we don't blame the defenders.

And I just don't agree with you on the third, the pass was good, the first touch was sublime and the finish was great.

Could we have done better for every goal? Of course, but does that mean we should take away praise for the opposition and instead blame the defence? No way.

Gomez should have been there to cover Trent and be much closer to him. Matip for me is a better reader of danger. Gomez has the recovery pace but is still slow in reacting to defensive situations.

The second goal was a gift from us.

I thought their first goal was outstanding from Harrison.

He’ll be a problem this season in the prem.

Costa for me was their stand out. He’ll cause plenty of problems for defenders. Was pleasantly surprised by several of their players, hope they maintain their form.

Though the fact they had three shots on target and scored three goals, papered over how vulnerable their defence was. They are going to be that clinical every game, so I think they may get found out further down the line like a lot of the newly promoted sides.

Something mentioned briefly on another thread but best to bring it here was the disallowed 2nd VVD goal. I have watched it a few times and there was no foul. The usual body contact when so many players in the box but what really happened was defender lost VVD again and just fell being in close proximity to Curtis who was unfairly penalised.

Costa has hot and cold written all over him for me. Don't think he'll be all that overall for a few years yet. See Adams traore

I love Trent but for their third he gave them the ball from our throw in. He actually did it again five minutes later. Really no excuse for that.

However, we scored for in a tricky match and won. Good.

Trent had a horror show yesterday but you can tell he isn’t fit yet, and it was the same for Henderson.

Fabinho will definitely come in for the trip to Chelsea for the extra solidity in midfield but at whose expense is the question.

Does he take Henderson out and then start him in the cup game midweek to let him build up his fitness or will it 60-70 mins again from the start for him, dropping Keita in the process who was iffy yesterday.

Costa has had history with us, I remember him destroying us when Wolves beat us at Anfield in the FA cup a few years ago. Good player.

I reckon it will be Keita who drops out. Is the cup game in between the Chelsea and Arsenal games?

I think that was the Shakirigate game

I don't think individual players are that important to Bielsa. It is also one of the reasons he doesn't manage anymore in Argentina were the individual players are more important than the collective.

Costa or Harrison are maybe average players in another side but they are great in this system which is all about creating overloads on both sides and runners in the box.

For their third goal they had 5 players in our box.

One of the smartest thing they did was Bamford cutting the passing line between VVD and Gomez in our buildup. Trent tried to drop back in defence to counter this which means he didn't had the the chance to bomb forward.

Correct yes.

Yeah it will be tried and trusted for Chelsea. People say Fabinho was dropped yesterday after a poor pre season.

I enjoyed Curtis cameo yesterday. True he was poor for the Leeds 3rd goal but going forward he was causing them problems. Got really involved and wanted the ball.
