Oh well, it looks as though Madrid have entered the running for Wirtz now that Xabi Alonso is in charge of them.
Is this the end of the dream for us ?
I did think Real Madrid were skint though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Theyll replace rodrygo with him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Uuurgh yeah there is that.
Report a that Wirtz only wants us though.
Need to get this done asap, and if it’s not by Friday, then I’ll start to worry.
Looking fairly good for us but yeah stuff can change so quickly. If real get a bid for rodrygo or he asks to leave for example they could ramp up a move for wirtz.

I call BS. Plus he only wants us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was that before Madrid came into the picture?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Madrid would have been potentially in the picture for ages with Alonso heading there.
But yeah even with the loss of rodrygo real seem stocked upfront, cb and midfields surely needed more.
I'm sure Fabrizio will have something to say on it today, whether they're after him or not.

Uh oh
Not helpful for us that he's walked away unexpectedly from City and Bayern, clearly this isn't done till it's official
Honestly losing out to Madrid would be embarrassing after Trent, Bellingham etc. Seeing Zubimendi sign for Arsenal after he rejected us is tough too.
We will see I guess. Fvcking despise Madrid
There's only one report about it too, from a mouthpiece of Real Madrid.

I'd say its embarrasing to reject bayern and liverpool to end up with farteta
Good morning champions
Don't believe the Madrid stuff on Wirtz, they've left it too late.

Huge deals like this take time. I can only think of the Neymar one that was done quickly mainly because of La Liga’s release clause stuff

It's never embarrassing to lose out to Madrid. Can't think of any player they've seriously gone for who ended up anywhere else. Plus, I'm sure they're just getting their name in the ring so he joins on a free when his 5 year contract with us ends
And we clearly aren't in for zubimendi this time around and its clear that his personal reasons have cleared up.

Oh rumour mill crap
No way of knowing if we'd still won the league had he joined, but wonder if Zubimendi regretted his decision now.
Sacrificed a potential league title and CL football to finish 11th in La liga
I reckon Zubi regrets not joining us and Arsenal were the best club to come back in for him since. Simple as that.
Good move for him and them tbf.
I saw they are close to renewing the raapist's contract, makes sense with Jorginho going I guess but still a lot of players for one position.
Is he a signing that takes them to another level? Probably not. Other business they do will be more important I think
I think us not getting Zubimendi will be the difference between us getting our targets this year.
£50M extra this summer to spend, that is Kerkez money this summer. Who'd have known we didn't need to spend that money when we had a player already that could do the job.
For once the start aligned for us, and karma was our prize.
I did not know much about Zubimendi before we were in for him, but I have watched a bit of him this year, whilst he is very good at intercepting he is very small and slight for a player in his position, he might get away with it in La Liga where the game isnt so robust, but h will need to fill out a bit for the Prem.
I could be wrong though.
I really like Zubi as a player, but I’d like to have greater athleticism in our midfield more in hindsight.
