I was similar with Suarez, saw him for Uruguay didnt know what club he was even at, could've been Groningen if not then Ajax but i didnt know about him. Remember thinking heres a player, never crossed my mind again til we signed him and i was buzzing. Cheaper than Carroll too wasnt he. Bit of a slow start with us if i remember but our team was facking sheite tbf

His finishing was like nunez for the 1st 18 months but the quality was always there in his general play. Once the finishing came he was unstoppable.

Still the best player ive seen in a red shirt personally.

Second yellow cards makes sense as it's a bit silly at the moment a player should have been sent off but VAR can't do anything about it.

Corners though I'm not sure. Yeah it's frustrating when you don't get one that you should or vice versa, but then you're heading down a road where every single decision might as well be reviewed by VAR.

I want decisions to be correct but the pace of the game is one of the things that makes football good.

My increasing problem with VAR is that it's disproportionately crap for the stadium supporters.

At least on TV you get to see replays so you see the decision unfolding in the stadium nobody seems to have a clue what's going on whilst VAR does it's thing. And the loss of goal euphoria is a fundamental change to the football experience.

I was an enthusiast for VAR prior to implementation, now I'd happily bin it.

You know what, vs preston i was impressed more so by the stuff he didnt complete but was seeing it. There was a backpost cross to Salah and a through ball attempt to Chiesa, didnt quite execute it but he was making the right choices.
