Quizball?

Anglian, I did the Home Ales tour, we were left in the VIP room with an hour and a half of complete drink what you can time. After the first 30 minutes, the memory is wiped.

Shippo's I never did and mostly avoided their pubs if possible.

Kimbo's wasnt a bad pint at all. Its derelict these day and very sad to see. Bit like the Derby Trophy Cabinet

What was that football quiz on tv that David Coleman used to present and you had a few different routes to goal. If you went the short way with less questions, they were more difficult.

Weren't Shippo's your shirt sponsors the last time you won a trophy, Woody. (other than the Full Members Cup, that is).

Surely not, though, they shut down in 1991

That's "fewer", not "less" questions, Woody.

I've got no idea what booze your all talking about, In Mancland we've got our JW Lee's and crystal, not bad to be fair but gives you a fair hangover in the morning.

As a young lad the illuminous colour of MD 20/20 was calling for a long time, and then I got to taste it.

It's an interesting fact that the competition in the Watney Cup was of far, far higher quality than that contesting either of the European Cups that Forest "won".

Remember drinking Robinsons, when I was briefly up your way, manc.
Even Boddies tasted ok then....think it was brewed at the Strangeways Brewery ?

As was the Texeco Cup and our pummeling of the mighty Airdrie in the early 70's

Robinsons was a wonderful pint before the brewery was taken over.

Pedigree and Ruddles County now pale weak imitations of their former selves. Ruddles only comes in tins down here, but some pub's both here in Bristol and up in Shropshire occasionally offered Peddy and it wasn't the same, or perhaps it just doesn't travel? Our sheep friends should have an answer to this one?

Pretty much the same as Bass, fantastic pint in and around Burton, get much further away and its not the same.

I'm currently enjoying Doom Bar.....

We won the Quiz Ball trophy in 1971 with Stuart Hall as the ref. Our team was Alan Durban, Roy McFarland, Alan Hinton and the actor who played the role of Tom Forrest in the Archers Bob Arnold.

After Alan Hinton got the question "which sport has the Queensberry rules " he said cards!!! He was dropped and replaced by John O'Hare.

We beat Palace 4-2 in the final.

Ain't google fantastic!

I'm going to my local for a few to celebrate the signing of George Thorne (1700hrs tonight)
We have Pedigree and my favourite London Pride. They sell 3 times more Pride than Pedigree, I suppose they should call the Pride Ipro now!

I never liked the Nottingham beers like Home Ales or Shipstones, but the Castle Rock isn't bad.

I was going out before 5pm, but I'd better hang about now, to see if any news arrives
Will be celebrating with Woodfordes Wherry, if you're right VC10 !

I hope it never ends, the GT saga. It's like Twin Peaks with its quirkiness and myriad plot twists. I can't think when we've had a better one.

3 years at Trent poly, avoided Shipstones and Home Ales like the plague, although The Crispin at Ashover (Nr matlock) did a decent pint of Home. Was weaned on Pedigree, especially some at some nice village spots around Matlock - it doesn't travel that well though.
Sadly living in Ireland, my choices are now limited - Smithwicks is the right colour and that's about it

When I was at Wembley to watch the Charity Shield match in 1976, we beat West Ham Roy Mac and the great Zak scored, the only beer I could find was Worthington White shield. It had got sediment in the bottom of the bottle and was quite strong. It tasted horrible when you had to drink it out of the bottle, You got all the sediment in you mouth. It did make me regular though.

Not to mention Tartan Bitter, they used to sell it at the 7 Stars.
