My problem is that the players that he is playing, is absolutely shocking.

Evans, Valencia and Fletcher are the most useless players we have in our squad (I'm not forgetting you Cleverley). They literally run around headless chickens, which means other players move into their position because they are tired of having to wait for the ball to move forward.

To be honest, I don't think any knives are being sharpened for LvG, most people's gripe is with the abysmal performances that the United players seem intent on churning out.

But I want us to be world class NOW! Not after a gradual process of improvement.

It's not FAIR! Raaaaaaaaaaaa!

Agreed. We need to get the transfers in and out wrapped up and spend the next few weeks getting players back fit and used to whatever system he decides to go with.

Poor start but not surprised given we have a new manager, new system, new players in, lot of injuries, players unsure of their futures.

I'm confident we will be a better side after the international break and continue to improve as the season goes on. Still fancy us to make top 4

In fairness with the injuries we have atm, we have no option but to play them, Rojo, Rafael, Shaw, Smalling, Carrick, Herrera all out, and all of them would probably start

We just want one or to of them to push forward with the ball & get that quick, attacking football back. Short, slow passing doesn't suit us. I do think 1 win could kick start everything.

The problem is that for some weird reason he thinks 3-5-2 is the way to go.

Can somebody explain????

Because we have no fullbacks available?

Why should we be positive? Doesn't change jack-shi t about how the players perform. Think we should make their lives hell so they start performing.

That's one thing I'm not sold on but keep getting told it is only a temporary measure until we get the players in to go back to LVGs favoured 433. I hope this is right.

Superb article, unfortunately it will go over the heads of many.

Did they think this will be a quick fix? I'm getting very disillusioned with this board.

People whine so much and cannot engage their brains before posting.

I think its embarrassing that we've almost spent 200million and we still look like we need to spend 100million more.
Personally, its all stinks of bad management.

Who on the bench offered a better immediate option to that trio?

Right now our starting full backs are just woeful both defensively and in attack. Ashley Young is much better from the right, Shaw is much better defensively at wing back and not bad offensively, rojo too. Rafael is a better right wing back too. We literally have the worst pairing at wing back for the last 3 games due basically to injuries. Maybe we need to by more wing backs>

We aren't a newly promoted team. These players are not inexperienced players. It's shocking people actually believe that continuing to believe in a system that empowers the most useless players is beyond me.

If LVG is as good as he is. Why does he not shout at Valencia to stop those awful crosses? Why does he not ask one of our midfielders to drop in and help pick the ball up from the defenders?

All I've seen from him is him there sitting like a mug, with Giggs, scribbling down on his clipboard, expecting everything to fall into place.

The 3-5-2 formation was not working all game, yet, he continued to play with it, and refused to change anything.

I don't think you should speak negatively about your team, VC says wait and see. That prat is never wrong

What a waste of money...Boooooooooooooooo.

Most people admit that SAF lef us with a poor squad, this was never going to be fixed overnight. Yes we have spent a lot of money, but how many of those players have actually played? Inuries have crippled us for the start of the season as well.

We have had a sustained peiod of dominance in the Premier league, but it is not our god given right to be in contention for the league (or top 4) every season. Other teams have seriously improved their squads & we are now the team that are playing catch up, it will take time. Will it be hard? Of course it will, but I'm confident we will get there.

posted on 30/8/14

Of course it will take time but at the same time there will be concern because I haven't really seen signs of improvement, however small.

The defence still look shaky and unwilling to move the ball into midfield.

The midfield are static and not offering support to either defence or attack.

Our wing backs aren't offering much.

The Mata, Rooney, RVP trio is not looking good.

Of course injuries are causing big problems with some of these points and I've no doubt thinks should improve BUT I can understand why some will be concerned about this lack of progress even if it's only 3 league games.

Why can't people have a balanced view, it always seems to be one extreme or the other. Can it not be both, it will take time but also we aren't seeing much in the way or improvements of understanding this system.

One positive, di Maria offered everything we expected from him, speed, directness, energy and quality.

I thought Di Maria looked great when he had the ball out wide.

I'm not sure but even if that is the case, we now have 1 but he was making his debut after being at the club for 3 days. We were never going to change the tactics at such short notice. We still would have struggled for a right back & left back today if we went for a back 4 today due to injuries.
