Worst player ever?! Two words for you.

Michael. Ricketts.

Terrible. Even worse than Seth Johnson and Carlton Palmer and that's hard to achieve.

Thought England were ok tonight. Couple of wobbles at the back but we don't have top class defenders anymore so that's to be expected. The days of choosing between Terry, Ferdinand, Campbell and Carragher are long gone.

Up top we scored 2 and should have had more, we certainly created openings.

And this was away at a solid, if unspectacular, side. Easy to bash England but I thought they did ok tonight.

No problem Neo, I will accept any criticism you make within reason. It's just a shame that your national team doesn't generate more support. Bearing in mind that our star striker last night plays for the mighty Watford, it was great to see the support the Jocks got from the terraces.

Neo, there were times when I thought the game passed Hendo bye. He wasn't the dominant midfielder we have come to expect in a Red shirt. Delph? He pulled on a white shirt and tried his best. Why do people knock the guy?

I thought Henderson played really well, covered up a lot of mistakes from the wretched Wilshire and was calm and composed

Wilshere for me was the least effective England player on the pitch, he seems to regressing. Milner was a vast improvement when he came on.

On a side note based on his performance tonight maybe it wasn't so bad to have missed out on Shaqiri, boy clearly has talent but too often frustratingly fails to deliver whenever I have watched him.

Thought Henderson had a good game, maturing into a very good midfielder. He got forward when he had to & looked assured in his defensive duties.

I said earlier on today on here that I expected a Swiss win, wasn't expecting much. happy to be proved wrong, Hodgson got it spot on tonight. I'm not convinced that he's the man to take England forward but he deserves credit were its due.

Their record on home soil is very good, they're a decent side so it was a very good result.

It's no wonder all the England players are shît when this is the reaction they are inevitably subject to.

wow, delph had some game... he was both shιt and good in the same game. That takes some going.

He was neither in my opinion.
Neither was he as bad as people are trying to make out (or are tying to convince themselves), nor was he brilliant. He had a solid performance in his first full appearance.
Give him a break. Much worse players have worn the shirt, and much worse will wear it... players with far worse performances have been let off lightly and some with far greater performances have been ignored.

I say well played Fabian Delph. Enjoy today. You won your first full appearance with the national team.

Leave the gross exaggerations and tinted glasses out of it, and instead of spitting vitriol, either support, offer some sort of insight as to why YOU thought he was not good, or just dont bother commenting.

Why did I read an article by TVJ?

Delph's passing percentage was up in the 90's and was 100% until the 45th minute at least.

Delph was too eager to impress. Poor guy knows caps will be hard to come by for him

Verbal Jouster is just an attention seeker trying to get a rise. Decent WUMs are sometimes funny at least, this guy is just desperate.

For me it was refreshing to see defenders attacking the ball and staying switched on, as England do concede silly goals.

The attack was better, Delph done a job but unsure about the future.

Sterling had a poor game by his standards, but he was the lynchpin in both goals.

The young boys need confidence and they got that tonight.

England played well last night, including Delph.

Some shakiness in defence, but that should be worked on.

unfair on delph when jones, rooney and welback were playing... not to mention whilshire.

the salford bbc were trying to make out rooney was instramental in the first goal.

i'm shocked they didn't claim the assist for the second as he put lambert in the perfect place... by waddling off!

I thought the defending was good regarding the last ditch tackles but too often it came down to that as overall the positioning was poor. I feel for Stones - a good player and composed undoubtedly but not a right back. Having Johnson/Flanagan/Walker back should help with balance and hopefully Stones will have a long career in the centre. Also don't know why Baines doesn't look anywhere near as composed as he does for Everton. Whilst Lichtsteiner is a good player, he got caught too many times.

Going forward most seemed to do well, thought Rooney was busy and better than he has been but faded and should have been replaced earlier as he tired (you could see he had stopped chasing the ball early and seemed disninterested). We look better balanced with just the three attacking players but Roy has a decision to make when all four prime attackers (Sturridge, Rooney, Welbeck, Sterling) are available without even Theo. The other player I am unsure about (and I do have a downer on him) is Wilshire. He has good ball retention skills but it matters not if you don't do anything with it. Thought he was unproductive and a liability for a deeper lying midfielder. However unless we start reconsidering Cleverley I can't see anyone else being even near halfway towards a dominant cm - think we need that more than anything.

Comfortably my least favourite poster.

Anyway, Hodgson changed the formation, the line up and the tactics and got a first away win in 9 with a clean sheet.

I struggle to see a negative other than the OP tbh.

the scariest part of the whole thing is that hodgeson thinks that his team selection and formation was a bold approach.

if he thinks that was bold then that just proves that we're never going to see any progressive football while he's anywhere near the England setup.
