Totally agree with the title. And that is the reason why the laundry bills at Arsenal are the highest in the PL. Now figure it out

Wenger has a 3 foot long quilt these days though
You were defending deeper last year if im not wrong? We look better going forward believe it or not but have been lax at the back.
Yeah Mr Chelsea. And that's how it should be really. Especially now seeing as we have so much pace on the break.
As for Chelsea. Noticed that too. But you guys have come close to striking a balance at least. And you look somewhat solidish.
Duvet. That's the word I was looking for. Completely slipped my mind.
Very true Dubbed. On the other hand when team pressing against us in midfield we couldnt handle either.
It's not exactly a new problem. It's all about poor workrate and the lack of enthusiasm for the darker arts of the game. We've been sheite at winning the ball back from the opposition for a very long time. I remember the 1st half of the Everton game when Alexis spent most of the first half gesturing for our lazy caants to get forward and help him close down the opposition.
I have been crying about this since the old forum that I am just tired of it now. If everyone in the team had the mentality of Alexis we would be an amazing outfit but sadly most of our players are just lazy caants not bothered about pressing!
How long is it before Alexis is Arsenalised and loses his winning mentality and turns into a lazy caaant too?

The issue is not only pressing guys. Do you ever see our players during counter attacks?
They never bother to pick up the runners but just stand and watch hoping for the best. Most of our players have a "that is not
part of my game" attitude and I find it totally disgusting. If that is not being lazy to you colin I dont know what is to you. And the
manager defending them and making excuses for them today is even worse."
It is sad just how long the same problem can plague us for sooooooo long!
Anyone who makes TEN changes to a line-up is an idiot! "Thank you Mr. Wenger"!
"just lazy caants not bothered about pressing!"
===========================================
It's not even that they're lazy per se, it's that the coaching places absolutely no emphasis on that side of the game, hence they have little desire to follow out an instruction that doesn't apply to them. If it ain't with the ball, the coaching staff at Arsenal generally pay it little mind hence why we are so ridiculously poor without the ball and why, during transition, teams generally waltz from the edge of their area to the edge of our area without breaking sweat.
We stopped pressing as a team when injuries starting mounting into double figures of players out at one time
The number of injuries is still a massive problem but nothing like the days of having kerrea Gilbert at right back

lets hope he's got the mental strength to withstand Wenger brainwashing
Barely any team of presses at home. Yes he should have been closed down, but closing down a shot and pressing a team as a whole are two entirely different things. Most teams don't press because of the physical exertion of it, you either use enrrgy to attack or to press and defend. Can't really do both to a high degree. Barca were good at it because they barely ever lost the ball so the pressing wouldn't tire them
Players aren't particularly motivated - even the FA Cup final was a struggle to get going.
We can't really press as a team due to Mert's lack of pace but the fact is some players should press regardless. Sanchez hasn't slipped into the lazy Arsenal way so he bucks the trend atm.

Nonsense. You need to watch more of teams like Bayern, Dortmund, Barca, Atletico etc. Or watch the intense pressure Liverpool put on the opposition last season. You can either press on the front foot in advanced areas (like Barca and Bayern do - or in England, Southampton were doing last season) or put pressure on the ball when the opposition advance higher up the pitch to prevent any cohesive attack building up (like Atletico, Dortmund, Liverpool and many teams were doing). Teams that do the first tend to be very dominant in possession (Southampton also topped the possession stats last season in England) and teams that do the latter tend to be very sharp transitioning on the counter when they win the ball. We do neither particularly well.
Just lousy, lazy fackers. "We play, you play" is basically the philosophy.
Sheriff is spot on for once. I don't know how he did it. But he hit the nail on the head.
We all could witness in the last CL League game against Dortmund what harm good midfield pressing could do against Arsenal. We have no answer to that. Chelsea doing it every game against us that was the key to a 6-1 trashing last time for example.

The teams you mention in no way employ that philosophy on a regular basis, Dortmund for example dont press week in, week out watch their next game. Those teams you mentionned decided to employ a pressing strategy in particular (usual big) games for a particular objective. Its a tactic normally employed against possesion based teams, hence why we see it used against us often. Heck, we even pressed, and pressed very well against Barca. We also did it very well against Dortmund in Germany last year. Try to find clips of this game on Arsenal player
The intense pressure pressing in every game from Liverpool, Southampton etc is pretty much a fantasy you just made up to prove your point, there is no reality whatsoever apart from particular big games where teams like Pool set up to counter attack. Chelsea and Maureen are famed for their closing down and compacting space but again only in particular games, usually the big ones against ball playing teams (see chelsea city last weekend) You havent seen any of that against the promoted teams they played this season
Last year, excluding the big games (where we should have probably employed a pressing strategy) we had the best defensive record in league by a long long way. There is no need for us to employ a pressing strategy on a regular basis, we just need to adapt our game more against certain big teams.
But we all know that already

Or is your contribution to write 'Wenger out' on every article like some kind of tic?
The press game is very difficult in the premier league. Teams that do that always start well but start to decline post-Jan. Too many games and the physicality all take a toll. The only teams that can maintain it somewhat usually have a very strong squad. And that costs time and money to construct.
You can't take style like Atletico in Liga or Dortmund in Germany and automatically conclude that it work in England over a full season.
