But this is the reality of modern day football, these players are paid absolute fortunes and treated as kings and therefore you must provide them with the things that will keep them happy and for many living in London provides that.

I live in London and I have absolutely no desire to live anywhere else in England right now, outside of London, England is a depressing sh-thole.

I would not dream about living in London. I hate the place.

It's a depressing sh-thole.

Maestro.

Obviously everyone is different but the price of houses in London compared to the rest of England would show most are desperate to live in London.

It's all about what you want and for me London has a hell of a lot more.

My missus refuses to go to London. She once won a competition to go to a London nightclub, after a free photo shoot, with free clothes.

She turned it down.

Whenever I have been, I always find it's full of rude wierdos.

Like anywhere it depends where you go. The centre is a horrible place at times aimed purely at being one big tourist attraction. Visit the surrounding boroughs and there is so much to see. It's basically multiple cities in one each with their own style.

I don't get it. Why do players choose to live where their home games are played and not where their away games are played? Surely with 50% of the games away they could easily live where the away games are. Confused.

Didn't Pires live in the Highbury stadium (after it got converted into flats) during his brief spell at Villa? Got chauffeured to Birmingham every morning.

Owen too, lived near Wales and helicoptered into Newcastle every day, as did Les Ferdinand when he was at Bolton, flying a helicopter from London everyday.

And 'arry, drives from Poole to West London every day.

I mean in terms of city life outside of London. England has some lovely natural beauty but few players in their 20s are interested in that. Manchester doesn't compare to London in terms of what it can provide for multicultural city life. London is without doubt one of the greatest cities on the planet, no other city in England comes close.

It's why I also mentioned Mendieta earlier, a rare example of a player loving the nature side of England having also lived in Barcelona, Rome and Valencia.
