Probably not.......

Regardless I enjoyed his entire statement, although obviously it was always going to be positive he made a lot of the right noises.

SAF, Who would you consider to be the best GK in the world?

I'd say top 5

I like De Gea but every time I see Neuer he is amazing and the same with Coutois. I don't know too much about keepers though.

Yeah Neuer for me to... thought he was great ever since that Schalke semi final (although he was a bit dodgy in the 2nd leg)

Just seems to have grown and grown.

Though admittedly I don't really watch a lot of foreign football.

He certainly has a good case for the premiership, although (and I almost feel guilty saying this) I may lean slightly towards Coutois for that one, very close though.

Gianluigi Buffon is still the best. The 3 younger talents have a bit to go before they're at Gigi's level or in his league for me. All are cracking prospects though and have dofferent strengths. Courtois is his presence and the way he fills the goal and commands his area. De Gea is the best and most natural shot stopper of the 3 and Neuer is more balanced and great at allowing his defence to play higher up the pitch.

Buffon is excellent in all ways though and has been for years. One of the very best of all time.

He's in the Top 3

1.) Neuer
2.) Courtois
3.) De Gea

Just hollow platitudes appealing to his new employers.

DDG is a fine goalkeeper and among the world's best.

Indubitably the world best? Well, that is for the anoraks and co

De Gea is arguably the best for sure, It's Neuer for me though, Can't decide between Courtois and DDG though. Courtois commands his area but De Gea is the better shot stopper.

on current form ddg is the best goalkeeper in the world.

But we don't judge the best player on form alone.

On a side note, ddg is currently having the best season of his life. Bit is it any coincidence that it is now he has valdes in training with him. Maybe valdes presence as had a +ve influence on ddg. Be it competition or impacting experience.

Courtois for me. I don't really get all the hype surrounding Neuer.

Or Brendan, by the looks of it. He couldn't get out quick enough.

A big difference de Gea has had to deal with compared to the other top keepers over the past year has been a poor defence meaning his job has been very different to what a top keeper would usually have to deal with.

I genuinely can't think of many mistake de Gea made in 2014 and considering the mess of a defence he's had in front of him that's very impressive.

No doubt Neuer and Cortouis are great keepers but they have both had very solid defences in front of them making their jobs quite different to de Gea's.

DDG has far more shots to stop than Courtois

Ahem. Iker is a more recent World Champion.

For me the one significant thing about what Valdes has said is that it is very on-message. Echoing LVG's statement of yesterday, it puts to bed those far-fetched ideas that United are preparing to push out DDG. We've bought ourselves a very experienced number two who accepts his place. If anything, it should make DDG feel more love: his number two has experience to share, and is a compatriot who is grateful to be DDG's understudy.

Lindegaard is looking for a new club. It's a step backwards for him, but better than nothing I suppose.

If he performs will for you, a big club might come in and snap him up.

DDG is far from the finished article, which is why he is nowhere near the top from me. Doesn't command the area when a cross comes in, still has a few iffy moments, sticks to the goal-line a bit too much.

People only really rate GK on if they are a good shot-stopper or not, which is only part of what makes a WC keeper.

Agreed. Any top WC keeper needs to know how to handle a toilet brush.
