How come you're appointing a former rugby player as your asst coach?

Obviously after getting smashed 6-1 by Stoke we are trying to play more like them.

A failed championship manager is not what we need.

Sacking Pascoe and replacing him with O'Driscoll is a sideways step at best. It's hardly going a inspire confidence in the fans. Yet another bizarre move by the club.

I wanted us to go for Sami Hyppia. Sure he also failed at Brighton but he at least brings the playing experience, being a top player for the club, having his own mind and being able to command instant respect from the players.

What we have instead is a failed championship manager who was a lower league player. Hardly inspiring.

After finishing Uni I stopped in Sheffield (relocated)and watched local games. He had a good footballing side at Doncaster who stayed in the Championship on a silly small budget, they played a high pressing game as Rodgers seems to prefer.

But things went sour and in the phone ins the fans got on his back, no idea why.

So you don't want O'Driscoll because he's a failed championship manager, just like Hyypia who you do want just because he played at a high level?

Arsene Wenger
Jose Mourinho

Just because they have played at a high level doesn't mean they know shîte about coaching. Many top level players have failed as coaches and managers.

What manager is going to bring someone in to be his assistant when he doesn't know them?

I'd prefer to bring in a decent coach for the coaches role rather than simply an ex player. Having played for the club at s high level and sentimentality are not the qualifications desired of a coach.

Let's be fair to your new coach, he had failed at Championship level and was a limited player....just like the manager you have.

But is being a top player/manager the requirements for being a good coach?

Arsene has former player Steve Boult as his number 2.

Maureen is just a freak of nature and won multiple silverware throughout his career while Rodgers personal trophy cabinet is as empty as mine.

It's not the managers choice but the owners choice. Rodgers would have been more than happy to continue with Pascoe.

We're all entitled to an opnion ARE and you know it, and I have no problem with people worrying about particular decisions made by the club.

But term's right, Shorty is a relentess stream of negativity, you don't see him on here praising the teams performance after a good win or acknowledging something positive by the club, ever. I wonder why that is???

My argument is when you already have a manager who has won nothing in his career and you are trying to inspire a title challenge or Europe the players will know deep down "yes but you have fak all"

Just like when Moyes was trying to coach Rio Ferdinand. That didn't go well did it?

We had Gerrard last year and now we have Henderson. We are seriously lacking winners at a management/seniority level

Bould has come through the coaching ranks at arsenal to get the no2 job and jose was working for big managers at big clubs, his education plays a part.

On the point of pascoe and marsh being fired by the owners, do behave yourself. If Rodgers was happy to continue with pascoe and the owners sacked them against his wishes, then he should have shown some balls and followed them out the door.

like the title challenge the season before last that we lost because someone slipped?

Hyypia has been sacked from both his managers jobs and doesn't know Rodgers, he was never going to get the job!

Nobody resigns these days. They lose out on there severance payment if they resign.

The owners probably told Rodgers he is lucky to keep his job and they will make some changes with staff. Nothing he can do about it.

If he left Liverpool who would take him? No big time club would want him. He had no choice but to put up and shut up.

Got no issues with Hyppia being fired in his last 2 jobs. In one of the jobs he did take a club through to CL.

This new guy has also been fired in his last few jobs as did Rodgers before he got the Swansea job.

Like I said before I doubt Rodgers will have a say as to who they would bring in.

We had a great title challenge unders Rodgers for sure but so many mistakes have been made since. The Stoke performance more or less tells you that he was losing the dressing room.

So it's obvious the manager has lost the dressing room and the owners have kept him in charge and think that sacking the staff that worked for him will fix it and then appoint his next assistant (without him having any say in the matter) with someone that Rodgers has previously spoken very highly of in the past?

He's definitely out ITK fly on the boardroom wall.

I also like that we have to acknowledge how well Hyypia done to get Leverkuesen into the champions league, but ignore his failings after that, yet at the same time discount rodgers getting into the champions league and rather concentrate on his failings after that.

Quality stuff
