Just got to have faith that the manager has a good idea how he can get the best out of our team working with Benteke.
If it's under the £25m mark I'd be pleased. Think some people haven't really watched him and just see a big guy so assume he won't suit us. I think as long as he's got Sturridge, Firmino or Sterling next to him he'll work just fine.
I hope so
then I can relax for a couple of months

not overly excited about this one but if he signs he'll have my 100% support.

this..
i have been attempting to bust the myths over him the last few days but people generally are not accepting to the fact they may be wrong about something (as i was untill i took the time to watch all his goals from the last few seasons)
psychologically it would be better if we keep the price under the 30mill mark, but considering inflation it probably works out less than we paid for torres, who had a lesser scoring record in a better team in a weaker league..
Why would people be ok with £25m but not at £30m?
It's not your money for fecks sake!
I'm happy with this window because I think the manager is getting the players he wants, that way it's up to him!
I'm not so fussed about the extra 5mil or so
I know you can't compare all deals like for like, but transfer inflation has gone a bit mad with all the new money pouring in and I can't see how a 1 in 2 striker, prem proven, who scores against just about everyone (not a flat track bully) can go for anything other than around 30 in this market.

The best we could do.
Far better than gambling £15 - £20m on someone from abroad with no Premiership experience. (Unless going for the cream of the crop).
I'd have preferred Lukaku
But like others have said, i'd be more than happy to be proved wrong

Not saying I wouldn't be unhappy at £30m just I would be pleased if it was under £25m.
I care because we can't just spend what we want especially with FFP and no CL rules.
I care because while the money is being invested by the people who own the club, it is reasonable to expect that money invested by them would indirectly, albeit slowly, recouped from those paying them i.e. though raising ticket prices for fans because they're seeing more expensive players playing at the club.
I care because from watching Benteke in the past I feel like he is a confidence player who is unstoppable when he gets going but can suffer real dips in form. A higher price tag and the expectations go up and the fans can get on his back when he goes through a bad spell.
To suggest that fans should pay no interest in the fees that the club are paying is frankly ridiculous.
* FFP rules and no CL money
OP - any links to these rumours?
His injury record is a huge concern. What we don't want is to see him and Sturridge both sat in the stands or out in Boston getting massages.

I wasn't too keen on the idea at first but I was at the semi final in Wembley and he was brilliant, he was all over the pitch, great touch and movement, agree with above he's not just a big target man he has much more to his game.
And I think it's important that we get a striker in ASAP, I really don't want us to be in august and still scrambling for a striker and end up ina similar situation to last summer where we had to sign Ballotelli.
It would be good if Villa to Borini and or Lambert as part of the deal, but really I don't care what we spend, think people worry far too much about that and it's a pretty weak slag to aim at a club from a rival.
Would be very happy with Benteke, even happier if we can flog them Borini or Lambert as part of the deal.
We're better off getting a striker the manager want's in in July then potentially one he doesn't in August after pre-season.
Sturridge, Benteke, Ings, Origi, and potentially Ballotelli is decent.

He's only had one bad injury that he came back from fine. It's different to having loads of little injuries.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep one bad injury but Villa confirmed that last season he was not participating in training to manage him and get him on the pitch. Is this likely to continue?
Clyne's just signed for you's, good business
Finding a striker/forward without injury problems is a tough ask.
Torres, Owen, Costa, RvP, Saha, Sturridge, Aguero, everyone who played for Arsenal other than Henry.
Everyone wants a bargain but in this market with the money in the game from tv deals it's going to take big £ to get him!
I think our business is just about done
