When your team is playing badly it might be prudent to rotate, that worked especially well earlier in the season with Walcott and Giroud.

Look at the quality of our squad though, even considering injuries, we have little quality competition for most of our first choices. Who's pushing Ramsey right now? Alexis? Bellerin? Giroud? The only place with any realistic competition is Coquelin and Flamini and that's more-or-less laughable. We have Iwobi coming on to try and get us level against United. It's not like he's been a revelation like Rashford was.

It's up to the manager to motivate players and part of that includes some basic competition for places. It does not include defending how badly you played by saying we were unlucky with finishing.
