I have never seen Ronaldo spit, what a gentleman compared to Messi who's a cheat in all aspects of his life.
What the Feck is this abortion of an article?
i've never spit playing football and have never understood it
if anything all i want is a drink going in
there's absolutely no logic to spitting and no benefits as far as I know
it's just bizarre behaviour to me
I'm hot and thristy....I know!! I'll spit
WTF
Bob Carolgees would beg to differ
Kaiser, it's something to do with nervousness, they think if they spit the camera will avoid staying too long watching them throwing nasty venoms.
We need to educate our youngsters not to ape the nasty habits. I for one will be ashamed to even dare spit in public let alone in front of millions across the world. In some countries you will be hanged for spitting in public.
Seems like a piece to have a wum at Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Rooney!
Giroud and Wilshere are among the nastiest at Arsenal so what's your point.
But, I am not a big fan of Chelsea as you know but have nothing against Spurs and wish them all the best if it could help get rid of our dinosaur manager.

Yeah in backwards countries, we should definitely follow their lead
it's unhygienic for starters.
footballers do it to make them look hard....it's nasty and confined to football but the ex pros and pundits will be queuing up to justify it
I don't personally spit when I play football - but this is not a game for Big Jesses - the whole article is ridiculous.
A solid 1
I'll spit in your mouth son
Played footy a lot, never felt the need to. Most Players (as role models) are bottom of the barrel stupid enough to start with, spitting doesn't help their rloe model credentials (sic).
OP
disgusting habit. Imagine the amount of bacteria (and mucus) these 'superstars' unleash on the lawn, then, they go slide in it.
What about the guys that unleash the contents of their nasal passages on the pitch?
SICKENING
Imagine being offended by it.....
OP, what do you want... footballers to carry handkerchiefs in their back pockets? This is a man's game so stop underminding it. What you advocate is the thin end of the wedge which will start with yellow cards for spitting and end in players wearing makeup and false eyelashes on the pitch etc You seem to be a product of the modern society where everything has to be 'PC'. Grow up.... grow a pair!
I'm not offended by it, I just don't get it

No one is offended by it. Why would you be offended?
But why do they have to do it? It's disgusting, unless they have a cold or something, there's absolutely no reason to do it.
I am a big fan of NBA because they never spit despite playing a more physical game than football.

sounds like you are in it or the right reasons
At least footballers on spit on the grass, charles barkley could learn a thing or 2
Obviously some people have never played sport...
I play footy and run a lot, i spit all the time beacuse the mucus is too thick to swallow.
I've never heard anyone complain up until now.
Maybe you should be less mucussy
Maybe you should shhhhhhhhhhhhhh
