It seems Woy has got over excited over his poor version of Ronaldo technique. He should be in the box putting the crosses away.

I'll never understand why centre forwards/strikers take corners, Rooney, Henry and Drogba have all done it previously.
It's not a specialist skill taking a corner, any professional footballer should be able to take a decent corner IMO, why wouldn't you want one of your main goal threats in the box during a set piece?
I wouldn't say Kane has ever had a Ronaldo technique, unless we're missing something in the training sessions.
Must be under orders from the manager, our long before he realises that it's not working.

From a dead-ball situation he couldn't hit a cow's backside with a bango. Essentially, Kane is an up-to-date version of Shearer (admittedly, a second rate copy at best). You never would have had Shearer taking anything other than penalties and the occasional free kick. Dier has ably shown that he is capable of free kicks. Why on earth is Wilshere or Lallana not taking corners? It is mind-boggling. Kane is a quite big guy, and we need him in the air competing for headers or in the box snuffling for knock-downs. Utter madness and proof that Hodgson is a few coffee creams short of a box of quality streets.
The most annoying thing was the fact he wasn't hooked at 1-0 when he was offering nothing and some injection of pace was needed to really worry Russia.
Around 70 mins I would have brought on Vardy for Sterling and Rashford for Kane.
Guarantee we would have got a second goal if we didn't sit on our lead.
Russia were relying on Dyzuba hold up play and were not really offering anything in an attacking sense even at 1-0, should've gone for the jugular.
Kane had a very quiet game tonight, but HTF could you consider leaving out the topgoalscorermin in the Prem this season because he was not at the top of his form for one game. Kane will end up as England top goalscorer, and would to be surprised if he doesn't win the golden boot. Only an idiot would consider dropping him.
6ft2, best finisher in the team, great poacher / striker of the ball, why the fudge is he taking corners???????? Makes no sense at all. From next match hope Rooney's on set piece duty

I don't think anyone is questioning why he started and I'm sure most level headed fans would admit he should still start our next match, but you can't deny the game was crying out for a different type of forward the more the game progressed as he was so anonymous.
Top strikers have games like this and it would have done no harm to switch it up and give a slow and tired Russian defence something different to think about.
I think even going 4-4-2 at 1-0 would've been better, really taking the game to them, I don't think they would've coped and were not even a threat on the counter. Set pieces and Dyzuba were their only likely source of a goal.
Has Kane ever taken a corner for Spurs in the last two seasons??
Its always been Eriksen or Lamela. Ridiculous by Roy.
Just a side note, what a pearler from big Eric, lets hope he shares free kick duty next season with Eriksen.

Sandy you blinkered tool - You admit Kane offered nothing tonight, but still wouldn't have subbed him for Vardy - Don't post on an England forum again
Preposterous that Kane is taking corners,WTF is Woy playing at FFS?
And why no Vardy at the end,the very last thing Russian defenders would have wanted to see for the last 15-20 minutes was a fresh Vardy coming on!

Roy is just ridiculously clueless
Kane taking set pieces is just bizarre
The substitutions am were even more ridiculous
a foxes voice
Kane is head and shoulders above Vardy, one off poor game don't mean you sub him. Vardy is pretty one dimensional, but his pace could have helped in the last 15 minutes agreed. But There is not a chance in hell that Kane will be left out to accommodate Vardy.
Utter feckin joke...thought we were just experimenting in the last friendly with this farcical nonsense. ...but no...suddenly Harry Kane the best striker in years is selected to take feckin corners in the opening match of a major tournament
How on earth can that be right....that he is suddenly the best dead ball taker in the side, whilst not being on the end of crosses
Roy had better sort that shat out by Thursday
Otherwise we were good yesterday overall
This is yet more clueless instruction from Hodgson, almost as clueless as his substitutions
Is there any youtube of Hodgson defending his decision to get Kane taking the corners. I've been supportive of the guy until now but anyone who sees sense in asking our top striker and header of the ball to take corners has lost the effin' plot. 40% chance that we'll get through to the next round.
