I thought he was a good manager. Can't see the FA giving him the job when you consider all the $hite he said at the time though

Gotta break the bank for Allardyce.

Going for the big name foreigner or FA insider hasn't worked, get the pragmatist, the inspirer, the guy that knows what it means to get results from mediocrity.

Allardyce is the stand-out candidate.

Glenn Hoddle is another example of a manager who's stock goes up more when he doesn't manage.

His last job was at Wolves ten years ago and he did a very poor job at Spurs, even his contributions at Chelsea are over exaggarrated.

The next England manager should be Allardyce, and it shouldn't even be a contest.

Why do people keep banging on about how great a coach Hoddle is?

If he was that good why hasn't he had a job for 10 years

Eddie Howe or Allardyce for me, it's a joke that we're even considering Southgate, just another yes man

If Southgate gets it I'm either going to depart this mortal coil or just won't have any further interest in the national team I haven't decided yet.

Howe's teams may play decent football, but tactically he is very naive.

Hoddle would be an excellent appointment.

No he isn't.

He compiled a report that everything from grass roots needed to be revamped and completely redone and the fa dismissed his views. He's certainly not toeing their party line.

I wouldn't mind Southgate

Alladyce is not an international manager.

Who cares? I wasn't talking about his time as a club manager, I was talking about his time as England manager and he did well.

Maybe because he didn't want one? Or the right one didn't come up?

He was a very good England manager.

He's learned a lot since being in the prem, has realised now that you can't play the same way against every team or you'll get battered against teams like Man City. I would have agreed with you at the start of the season but now I'm not sure that you're 100% right

How about paring him with Chris Waddle??

The 'Diamond Lights Reunion Tour', Russia 2018....

Well that's different from coming up against highly expierenced manager's at International level, i remember Chelsea's game at Bournemouth last season and i couldn't believe the amount of space and chances we were getting.

Maybe he is or maybe he isn't, but one thing is for sure, their is no English manager better equipped to give it a shot.

Dalglish was a very good manager for Liverpool back in the day, look what happened when he came back after a big gap without managing.

Allardyce the only one with a skin thick enough to manage England.

What makes you say he isn't an international manager?

His teams are hard to beat which ultimately exactly what England need to be.

posted on 28/6/16

I think Hoddle would do a good job and he certainly had England playing good possession footy.

All depends on if he's still mental really.

He makes the most out of mediocrity and brings players back down to earth. Sounds like exactly what England need, no?

It has to go to allardyce. He's paid his dues

Hoddle is the most overrated coach in the world. What has he done to deserve the England job other than get to the second round of the world cup nearly twenty years ago with a far better group of players than we have now?

Hoddle was so great we finished below facking Romania in the group stages.
