Yeah because all other competitions hand out Olympic medals as prizes.
It's no different to World Cups, in fact it is, as they have a world champs as well for most of them, so effectively two world cups.
They have their club leagues and European Championships etc as well.
These sports don't just stop for 4 years after an Olympics.
For the majority of the sports at the Olympics it's the pinnacle achievement, even though it isn't for tennis Djoko will have one more chance when he's 33 so it will be incredible if he wins that.
You could tell from him walking off court how much more that loss meant than the one to Querry and Wimbledon.
