Agree with this. Peaty was just a youth swimmer and just missed London 2012. He went on to win Commonwealth, European and Word titles, smashing the word record on the way to Rio. He now holds all the major titles plus the world record all at age 21. Over the next 4 years he will be defending those titles not doing nothing.

The Games might not be the pinnacle of accomplishment in certain sports, but it's still a unique occasion for many sportspeople who see it as the ultimate sporting event in which to represent their nation.

Would be interesting to see how different tennis players who've won both Olympic gold and the Davis Cup feel about those two achievements.

I'm not saying he's going to do nothing for four years, I'm saying he must be gutted at missing out on winning at the Olympics and won't have a good chance again. Fed was the same after losing at the 2012 Olympic Games even with all he's won.
